I'm talking about today and how it apparently isn't sexist or racist that every Tomb Raider game has had a white female lead. The sexism argument back then was simply about her two natural pines. They don't actually give a shame that, by their logic, Tomb Raider is sexist for always featuring a female lead. Yet Ubisoft has actually featured a female lead in one Assassin's Creed game but they're sexist because they chose to not make a playable female assassin in Unity?

Different times Raven.  If Tomb Raider came out now, then yes it would most likely come under fire.  Lara is a character built way back when and was designed for naughtiness appeal, cause that's how things were back then.  Lara pretty much has a set look/form and you'll piss off more than activists if you were to radically change her right now (Funny thing is that this exclusivity might have pissed off fans more than changing her into a black female.)  As far as Assassin's Creed goes, instead of complaining, go support the only Assassin's Creed game with a female lead instead.  Ubisoft may be inclined to make more female leads if there was money in it.

A franchise being built around a particular character shouldn't stop the whiners from whining about it. They simply don't because they find it perfectly acceptable because feminism isn't about sexual equality. It's about female empowerment even at the expense of the other gender. As far as Assassin's Creed goes, I completely agree with you. Instead of pissing and moaning how about you make Ubisoft believe they actually have something to lose by not making a playable female character? They won't because that requires them to actually do something instead of just sit there and cry until they get a cookie they don't even deserve.

Do you guys want me to split this into a new thread? Your posts will transfer over.

@Raven I agree with you, there's only a bit more for me to add, should we spin off into another thread about women equality in games/media as Legend is suggesting?

Just had a though when I was posting in the Capcom thread.  Tomb Raider may not actually get to the PS4/PS3.  I was thinking about Dead Rising and Ryse and neither of those games are going to the PS4 and considering how pissed Crytek is at their sales of Ryse, you'd think they'd have a PS4 version of the game ready to show off with the PC version.  Capcom still hasn't ported Dead Rising 3 over, just sticking with PC.  Think MS have added an anti PS4 clause to their contract?

You know, considering the growing gap between the consoles. It wouldn't surprise me if square finds a way to dissolve the contract and release in 2016 on both like. No way Ms is paying enough to keep it off a console that will have near 3 times the user base by then.

But that's what I'm getting at, why hasn't Crytek got around it to get Ryse on PS4?  Plus I do believe the guys at Square are dumb enough to not put it on PS4.  This is the same company that managed to turn Final Fantasy into a terrible selling franchise.

I dunno, maybe cry felt it wouldn't sell on Ps, which it won't. I mean.it's a forgettable game. It's got nothing going for it. It might sell a few 100k on pc just so people can flex their pc muscles to see what it can do.

I dunno the wording to me sounds like that they could possibly mean that the series isn't exclusive just this one title, and possibly for a limited time based on sales

Ryse was published by MS, Tomb Raider is published by SE

Ninja Gaiden 2 was also published by Microsoft.  It wasn't even a year before the PS3 version of the game was announced, why would that stop Crytek from publishing a PS4 version, especially since Crytek owns the IP?

I'm just saying that DR3 and Ryse not coming to PS4 doesn't support TR not coming to PS4. It might be as fish said and Crytek don't see it profiting on PS4.

Two things. A. Opportunity costs. B. Returns on investment.

Everyone knows Ryse is a poorly executed console game. Everyone knows late ports don't sell as well as the other version. Everyone knows that Sony has a clause that late retail releases need to have additional content as consolation to the game. Even if crytek can put it on ps4 it probably wouldn't get the sales to justify it

If they fix the game, wouldn't it?  Besides, what justification would there be to port it to PC either by that count?  There's even less of a reason to port the game there considering games make the most profit off of consoles (vs PC).  Even more so, people who would buy the game on PC (Who would have the video card needed to run it decently) most likely have the knowledge to know the game is mediocre.

@Pezus I didn't say Tomb Raider isn't coming to PS4, I'm just hypothesizing the possibility of Microsft adding a "No Sony" clause to their contract.  Much as Sony adds a "More content" clause in their licensing agreements.  As you mention as well, they need to add content if they were to make a PS4 version.  God knows the Xbox One and 360 version of the game isn't going to sell well.  The eventual PC port isn't gonna make up the sales either.  They're probably not gonna have the budget to actually finish the port.  I will say Square's quarterly statement March 2016 is gonna be hilarious.

So GAME have listed ROTTR for ps4. No release date on there, but when pressed by Jim from Videogamer.com as to whether it was a joke, the response was simply "nope." (Can't get a screen as I'm on my mobile at the moment)

The placeholder boxart states "only on playstation", but, y'know... Placeholders!
