fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...
I don't recall paying too much attention to watch dogs pre-release and all the promises made. I just remember thinking it looked cool

And it was cool, I loved Watch Dogs. Watch Dogs 2 was soulless and very flawed compared to the first game in many ways for me, and it seems Legion is carrying on with the downward trend.

hyped for having next gen graphics. delivered a massive downgrade.

hyped for having innovative gameplay.  delivered floaty driving, repetitive mission, and a lack of basic things like jumping.

it also had a ton of laughable graphical glitches like the el train video doing a hard 90° turn.

they promised next gen. they delivered one of the first cross gen games ever.

Didn't the mission they showed off in the first place, not actually end up in the game?

i can't remember that particular detail.  i didn't actually play it but one of my friends did.  his hype was massive pre-release and this rants at how poorly executed the game turned out were hilarious.

Apparently the game's budget was closer to 200 million... I don't even know how that happens.

Not sure when this actually happened, but amazon US finally has PS5 on its charts. The yearly is:

#50 PS5
#55 XSX

September monthly sales:

#5 PS5
#6 XSX
#9 DualSense
#22 PS5d

So pretty close between the main two with PS5 just having the edge. PS5d seems to have a lot more stock than Series S. Interestingly, DualSense is #6 in November so far as we build up to launch.

So PS5 had more stock for pre-order than XSX in every country that we can see on amazon, lets see what happens after launch. The US looks close for stock on amazon but we know gamestop was more like 2:1 in the US.

Retailer rumours are that PS5 initial shipment to Japan is only 100k.

Focus where it makes sense

PS4 was ~320k. A lot of Japan launches have been around 300k recently, Switch was about the same.

Yeah I think so, they don't have competition in Japan that they need to get ahead of right from the start. Also if PS5's shipment is >115k that's greater than the total lifetime sales of XB1 anyway.

I think it will be most telling how PS5 stock does for the rest of the holiday in Japan. It took PS4 7 weeks to hit 500k and it sold pretty awfully its entire first year. It hit 1 million exactly the week of new year 2015 (Japan PS4 launch was Feb 22nd).

Yeah, XB1 sales in Japan were truly horrible. Its launch week was only 22k, so we'll see if Xbox Series can beat that.

maybe.  maybe not.  playstation just hasn't done well in japan these days and i wouldn't be surprised if pre-orders were bad.

ps5 seems like a decisively un-japonese console.
