This is much better than I expected.
eh, worse than i expected.  at some point sony said it was a fully game.   4-5 over 4 worlds means an hour per world.  makes it sounds like a "connected demo" compared to the ps4 one that was 4-5 mini games.  i was expected 10 hours of playtime.  something with just a bit of meat on it.

...then again i'm always like 2x to 3x longer than what other people project as their time to play a game so maybe it's just me.

Some people were expecting a 2 hour thing.

I was hoping for something closer to Astrobot: RM's playlength.
This is a bit closer to half.

Oh well. Still excited.

QuoteOn the PS5, you'll be able to experience 3D Audio with the headphones that many of you already own, either through USB connection to the console, or by plugging your headphones into the DualSense wireless controller's 3.5mm headset jack.

Headphone audio is the current gold standard for 3D Audio on PS5, as Mark Cerny mentioned in his "Road to PS5" talk in March. We're also in the process of working on virtual surround sound through speakers that are built into TVs. Although TV speaker virtual surround sound won't be available on launch day for PS5, it's still a feature we are extremely excited about, and our engineers are hard at work on bringing it to PS5 in the future.

In the meantime, I'm happy to say that you'll be able to enjoy the PS5's Tempest 3D AudioTech through your compatible headphones in many PS5 games. Some of the PS5 games with 3D Audio features include Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Astro's Playroom, Gran Turismo 7, Returnal, Destruction AllStars, Demon's Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Horizon Forbidden West, Resident Evil Village, and many others

Experience PS5's Tempest 3D AudioTech with compatible headsets at launch, TV Virtual Surround Sound coming after launch – PlayStation.Blog

Sony never said that. All we had was Keighley saying its a multi-hour game not just a tech demo.

You must have been out of the loop on this, practically everyone was expecting this to be a short 2-3 hour affair, if that.

I don't recall them saying anything like that.

Do we think Sony will buy housemarque? Seems like Sony is interested in evolving the studio.

Sony needs to expand its first party after MS bought Bethesda. They tried making their studios into 2 team studios but that didn't pan out. They have some really strong IPs now, but they need more quantity at the same quality.

They need to branch out.

Multiplayer, open ended rpgs, and systemic games? Sony is forgettable. They have so many amazing games where the player is told what to do, but they have nothing to compete with Bethesda's focus on player freedom.

I don't think housemarque needs to be bought but they would help add a bit of variety to Sony first party. Hopefully their rouguelite is cool.

housemarque has been a good studio for sony.  i think returnal is a huge step up for them in size of a project.  if it is good and well recieved i could see sony buying them.  seems like a better choice than most at least.

i still think q-games would be a good add too.  all of the pixaljunk games were good.  i know they aren't AAA but mid size projects are still good.  i think sony need more of these mid sized projects.  i really miss efforts like echochrome from sony.

The issue with those mid sized games is that a lot weren't really successful orornor profitable.

While they don't need to buy housemarque games, they could also be lost as devs who do exclusives like what happened with quantic dream or even insomniac with sunset overdrive (I really hope sony can bring this to PS).

I agree, they need multiplayer focused games. But their current offerings are making them a lot of money and that route seems the safest to them.

Dr. Pezus

Sony tried a lot of multiplayer in PS3 that generally failed

I don't like it but in the current market Sony will need to start buying more and more aggressively, it's really inevitable mid to long term if they want to keep holding on to being a platform holder.

Sony have a reputation now, multiplayer and RPGs don't fit into that. I don't think people would trust Sony to put out a game of their usual high quality in those genres and besides we have so many of them from other devs anyway.

Buying more devs who are well known with these genres would work but their current studios should stick with what they're currently doing, its immensley successful.
