Politicians should never get to decide what scientific findings are released to the public. Certainly not any science that has to do with the environment. Any time politicians hide or put themselves in a position to hide information that is clearly not a risk to national security, the people should be highly suspicious at the least, if not furious.

Trump: If Mexico is unwilling to pay then will cancel upcoming meeting - NeoGAF

Quote
QuoteThe U.S. has a 60 billion dollar trade deficit with Mexico. It has been a one-sided deal from the beginning of NAFTA with massive numbers...of jobs and companies lost. If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting.

Trump's voter fraud proof: Non-citizen couldn't vote while suspect Hispanics could - NeoGAF

QuoteSo, this is so fudgy out there it has to be its own thread, because:
QuoteMr. Trump kicked off the meeting, participants said, by retelling his debunked claim that he would have won the popular vote if not for the three million to five million ballots cast by "illegals." He followed it up with a Twitter post early Wednesday calling for a major investigation into voter fraud. When one of the Democrats protested, Mr. Trump said he was told a story by "the very famous golfer, Bernhard Langer," whom he described as a friend, according to three staff members who were in the room for the meeting.

QuoteThe three witnesses recall the story this way: Mr. Langer, a 59-year-old native of Bavaria, Germany — a winner of the Masters twice and of more than 100 events on major professional golf tours around the world — was standing in line at a polling place near his home in Florida on Election Day, the president explained, when an official informed Mr. Langer he would not be able to vote.Ahead of and behind Mr. Langer were voters who did not look as if they should be allowed to vote, Mr. Trump said, according to the staff members — but they were nonetheless permitted to cast provisional ballots. The president threw out the names of Latin American countries that the voters might have come from.

QuoteThe anecdote, the aides said, was greeted with silence, and Mr. Trump was prodded to change the subject by Reince Priebus, the White House chief of staff, and Senator John Cornyn, Republican of Texas.Just one problem: Mr. Langer, who lives in Boca Raton, Fla., is a German citizen with permanent residence status in the United States who is, by law, barred from voting, according to Mr. Langer's daughter Christina. "He is a citizen of Germany," she said, when reached on her father's cellphone. "He is not a friend of President Trump's, and I don't know why he would talk about him."

QuoteBut a senior White House staff member, who was not at the Monday reception but has heard Mr. Trump tell the story, said Mr. Langer saw Mr. Trump in Florida during the Thanksgiving break and told him the story of a friend of Mr. Langer's who had been blocked from voting.

Uh So to sum up: A friend of a German golfer apparently had a story about being blocked from voting (We have no idea what the original story is, given how Trump tends to remember things the way he wants to) Said golfer then supposedly told Trump the story in Florida Trump then tells everyone the golfer is his friend and supporter, which the golfer's daughter denies Trump turns the story into a tale of voter fraud, in which a German citizen was rightfully turned away but people "who don't look like they should be able to" are allowed to, despite possibly being from Latin American countries, which is apparently awful Trump cites this story to members of Congress to justify his unsupported claim that he actually won the popular vote, but there were 3-5 million illegal votes Trump believes this so much he's going to order an investigation... of states that went blue, because all of the illegal votes "went to the other side"

yeah, heard about that.  not sure if i should take it 100% serious but it sounds just like trump:

voter fraud is real because a white (non-citizen) couldn't vote but some brown people (and therefore unamerican by conservatives definition) did.

also, any story necessary to inflate that fragile ego of his.  of course he won the popular vote, he just has too be that awesome.  dear god is he easy to manipulate.

Trump: Should've Taken oil in Iraq, might get another chance, action before talks - NeoGAF

Quotehttp://www.cnn.com/2017/01/26/politi...raq/index.html
Quote"We should have kept the oil when we got out. And you know, it's very interesting. Had we taken the oil, you wouldn't have ISIS, because they fuel themselves with the oil. That's where they got the money," the President told ABC's David Muir.

QuoteTrump originally said that "maybe we'll have another chance," but he was noncommittal about what he specifically meant.
"We'll see what happens. I mean, we're going to see what happens. You know, I told you and I told everybody else that wants to talk, when it comes to the military, I don't want to discuss things. I want to let -- I want to let the action take place before the talk takes place," he said.

He probably thinks mexican importers would cut their profit margins instead of raising prices in the US or that they'll shift production back to the US, thus creating jobs etc.

Pretty simplistic way of thinking that probably comes with a ton more caveats. This whole thing is going to lead to much more problems than the orange moron is probably forseeing at the moment. Things are definitely starting out great with the Mexican president cancelling his trip to the US.

well we just cut out of the TPP.  those countries wanted access to our food.  one of mexico's top exports is food.

if i were mexico i would redirect all exports away from mexico and let inflation destroy america.  as an american it sucks for me but mexico should still do it.

Mexico's exports to the US are huge for Mexico but much smaller for us. They'd do much more damage to their own economy than to the US.

That assuming they wont cut their prices to offset the new tax. Now im not saying theyll take a 20 percent cut. Maybe 5. The importer might have to cut some aswell and then the rest will be passed along to us. Providing that product still sells at the higher price.

Im finding that im against everything trump is doing. But the Democrats where fine with higher payroll taxes, but if you tax our goods higher there going to riot? On a tax you can control by not buying that product?
