Ps4:
92k - Mediacreate
98k - Famitsu

Up over double on the corresponding week last year.  Superb 2016 continues!

PS4 should be able to get to 7 million before the PS5 comes to put a bullet through it.

DerNebel

Wow, the TLG split between Famitsu and Media Create is unusually big, over 15% difference.

Why did xbo jump? It outsold ps3!

That already happened.  It was a firesale.  Xbox original units going for 19,000 Yen.  The ps4 costs 31,000 Yen which in itself is very respectable.

PS4 will be over 4m at the end of the year.  At the end of 2018 it will easily be over 7m with at least 2 decent years of sale left.  I can't see it doing under 9m and I can see it doing over 10m.

All in all it will be a massive success compared to ps3. Not only will total hardware and software sales be comparable to last gen but the hardware will be ridiculously more profitable.

Ps4 sold at a profit vs ps3 at a loss most of the gen.  Ps plus subs for an entire gen and far higher than the ps3.

Sony will be happy with the turn around in Japan gen over gen.  They'll be in a healthy position to launch the ps5.

I don't think the PS4 will easily be over 7m at the end of 2018. That would require 1.5m average each year and there's not many big Japanese games coming for it now. It might make it to 7m by then but only just. If I had to bet I'd say it will just fall short. Lifetime I have no idea, depends when PS5 releases

Looks like I might have been right. The PS4 in Japan is going to be dang near 1 million consoles over the Wii U by year's end if this keeps up.

If I remember correctly, it was already doing about 100k a month outside of the holidays and major releases. That's a minimum of 1.2m for the year. There are other releases down the line that can bump those numbers, including games we don't know about yet. Hell, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake itself, assuming it releases within the next two years (which there is no good reason it shouldn't) could cause PS4 sales to have a huge hike everywhere. Japan not the least.

I can't see PS4 doing less than 1.5m next year in Japan.

To be fair I expect close to 2m.

If I recall correctly, the PS4 was doing better than both the PS3 and PS2 in East Asia. The console market in Japan is contracting, but the East Asia is doing pretty good thanks to Chinese Mandarin localization. That said, I hope the PS4 can keep it up in Japan.

Speaking of China, Sony is actually releasing new bundles over there.

It will be 4.1m by years end.  Next year you have RE7, RDR2, GTS, DQ11, FF7 and KH.
That's just to name a few.  It will easily do 1.5m next year.  It will be a full 12 months of the slim and pro selling too.

2018 I expect a cheaper price and more games.

2019 you'll get more but also gta 6. That will be big.  Ps4 will probably get a monster hunter too in the next 2 years.  I just can't see any possible way it doesn't sell 2.9m over the next 2 years.

People are way too negative regarding ps4 in Japan.
