PS4 sold 2.6 million. Xbox sold .7 million

these numbers are true. 100%. i have my sources that have real information.

should you accept my data as fact? no. then neither should we accept that site. ill wait for actual data and info from legitimate sources. not just anyone who says they have numbers.

So what could be the ramifications that come from you lying here? Right, there are none.

Now imagine if the numbers that Windowscentral reported turn out to be false, how many people on here would hold that over that sites head forever and would never trust anything they say ever again? Everybody? I'd imagine it'd be something like that.

You are completely anynymous, just like all these leakers usually are, stop likening your situation to that of people that run a gaming news website.

Quote from: Aura7541 on Dec 12, 2016, 09:28 PMGood. I commend you for doing your due diligence. However...

CosmicQueso doesn't have direct access to NPD's numbers and he hasn't been on GAF since before someone showed Windows Central's numbers. MatPiscatella is limited on the content he's allowed to talk about. Zhuge neither verified or debunked Windows Central's numbers. In contrast, when Aquamarine showed numbers, CosmicQueso and ZhugeEx have expressed their takes on the market based on the numbers she showed. They wouldn't have done that if her numbers were false. This is why context is important rather than just looking at one similarity.

I should note that this is the third time you have resorted to the false equivalence fallacy. You can't say two situations are identical based on just a small similarity. That's just not how it works...
Zhuge doesn't have NPD access either as pointed out above, so we're left with Cosmicqueso, that used to get them, who is another pretty much anonymous guy, that as we have established could be lying his dog off as well. Hey maybe he and Aqua secretly coordinated with each other so their numbers would line up. I know this sounds absolutely crazy, but here's the thing: You have no way of disproving it. All of this is based on which people you choose to trust.

And I simply put at least as much trust into a guy putting the credibility of his livelihood on the line here as I do in a bunch of essentially anonymous forum users.

But he has had conversations based on Aquamarine's numbers before he no longer had access to NPD numbers...

Who?

As in he would offer his opinions on the US video game market after Aquamarine's are put out before he no longer had access to NPD numbers.

Who? Cosmicqueso or Zhuge? For Cosmic I already gave out a scenario how he and Aqua could coordinate their lies. The same would probably apply to Zhuge and Aqua, though for Zhuge we at least have a name (then again that could be fake too).

Also to be clear, I don't believe any of these crazy conspiracy theories, I'm just saying that they could technically be true, cause we have no way of verifying their legitimacy.

And we can easily make crazy conspiracy theories for Windows Central, as well. What if the writer is on a long leash and if he was talking BS, it's just a slap in the wrist? What if Windows Central doesn't care about credibility and if they're called out on putting out fake numbers, they just shrug it off and go along as if nothing happened? I have hardly heard of this site until someone mentioned that WC claimed to have the NPD numbers. How come I don't see IGN, Gamespot, or Gamasutra share these numbers? And how come N4G, a site that loves clickbait, isn't reporting the numbers either? Why are they letting easy ad revenue get away from their fingers?

See how easy I can go with the conspiracy theories going the other way?

That's not the point, of course you can make conspiracy theories about Windows Central.

The point is that it's weird to say that we should treat this report being made by people whose names and faces we can see and who have real financial stake in not sharing false information with people as some kind of unconfirmed rumor, while leaked numbers by a certain essentially anonymous person are taken as gospel, because they have been verified by other anynomous people.

And you don't strike me as someone that cares much about MS, especially outside of gaming, so it doesn't surprise me that you haven't heard much about Windows Central. Also N4G is based on user submissions.

But your point can be easily refuted with your conspiracy argument. Perhaps the people at Windows Central is doing it for the clicks irregardless of whether the info is true or false. If the end-goal is to get as many clicks as possible, then the means doesn't matter much. How do you know for sure that livelihoods are at stake? How do you know for sure that there is a major financial stake?

And yes, N4G is based on user submissions, but how does that necessarily refute my point when the users like to submit clickbait articles or articles that have clickbaity headlines? Such an article with such juicy, juicy information that may or may not be true shouldn't have gotten looked over. Same goes for IGN, Gamespot, etc. Why haven't we heard much from any of these outlets?

Lol come on its a pretty irrelevant site and that guy is a Microsoft fanboy.  Of course it's in his interest to spread lies.

I can see a situation where ps4 slim sold 1.1m and the Pro sold an additional 400k to put it in total 500k ahead of the xb1. But I'm not even entertaining that idea.  We have no numbers from a reliable source and I'll happily wait patiently to January until we get them.

Taking this fanboys numbers like it's fact is just sad.  We're better then this!

Eh, I wouldn't go as far as to accuse Windows Central of being a fanboy site. I just want to emphasize the fact that we should all exercise skepticism since there is no way to vet the site's numbers. Windows Central may be right, but it may also be wrong. We can't know unless someone else leaks the numbers.

Fingers crossed for Aquamarine reopening her Twitter account.

Haha my thoughts exactly.

I stopped caring about whether the numbers are real or not a few hours after I first saw them. I'm fine with waiting.

Alright people.  Let's just breathe and drop the subject.  Going on a couple pages, and are very clearly not going to convince the other parties.  And frankly it really doesn't matter that much.

I had this whole reply almost typed out already, but yeah I'm tired anyways.
