I mean it is better to compare frame rates between unlocked games and it is obvious locked games already running solid won't see difference.

I want just more tests before believe him.
I'm pretty sure they did some more tests internally and after seeing no difference they decided to not have a huge part of their article be taken by that topic. Also Project Cars has an unlocked framerate.

Oh and have you seen Infamous First Light in its performance mode on the Pro? It now runs at almost 60fps.

Youll see no difference with out a patch. firmware shuts off half the gpu and down clocks the cpu to match OG ps4. so unless they patch a game it will not perform ny different between machines .

Yeah, and I really hope they'll look into that. Just tinker with the power a little, I'm sure there's a better solution here than this.

If MS can release a slightly more powerful X1S and have it affect all games then why shouldn't Sony be able to do something for even unpatched games to take advantage of at least some of the extra power the Pro provides.

Sony could but they are throwing a lot more power at it than the xb1s. it could and probaby did have a negative impact on unpatched games. thats the only reason i could see them locking out the extra power for older games.

Like I said, they don't have to let all the power of the Pro out on unpatched games, but can't they just turn off one half of the GPU for instance and then not downclock the other half for instance? Or do something similar with the clockspeed of the CPU and have that maybe run at 1.1 times the speed of the standard PS4 when playing an unpatched game instead of having it run at the same speed as a standard PS4.

I think sony should  ask and assist in patching older games that have  over 1 million in sales and would receive a benifit from that patch. ie dont starve wouldn't receive a patch because it wouldnt fix or help anything .  much like ms does for bc on 360 games.

That would be cool, but I think that would be a much higher ask from Sony as well as publishers, than Sony just finding a way for even unpatched games to get some use out of the Pro for more stable framerates, higher resolutions in games with dynamic resolutions and maybe some shorter loadtimes or so. I think that alone would go a long way and I can't imagine that not being cheaper than going to all these specific publishers to persuade and assist them with updating their old games.

I found pretty lazzy the reviews so far.

I expect more since they have a lot of days with the console... even most 4K TVs choose are contestable because lacks proper HDR support.

not true.  the extra power only affected the games developed to run in "dynamic resolution".  there are plenty of x1s games that run exactly the same as on x1.

Technically it did affect all games. A game at a locked framerate and/or resolution that never dropped a frame anywhere would naturally not be affected at all, but the X1S could potentially affect frame drops or screen tearing in any game, assuming they occured on the original X1.

All games on X1S have access to the entire power of the system, the system doesn't downclock itself to emulate a standard X1 anywhere.

Just make a super thread to chuck it all in and blend it all into one big mess of a giant Pro smoothie just to please people that hate positive Sony news!!!

Much appreciated in advance!

Yeah I'm working on breaking my Vgchartz addiction lol. Honestly forgot about the forum, until you mentioned you were doing the Amazon thread here.
Is there a October NPD thread?
