Halo 5 sold a good amount and in a vacuum, its first month sales were great. It's just that its sales performance was disappointing in context of how the previous games did.

I think Gears will sell a lot lower than previous games and still sell well also.

My guess? Because the bulk of sales for the XB1s are going to people who already own an XB1 and are fans of Gears. If Gears drops then expect the PS4 to dominate once again. At the moment that drop could just be a blip and we won't know that for sure until a few days have passed.

Why do you think I said we could see one of the biggest slumps in console sales next year than we've seen in years. It should get worse as we get nearer to the release of the Scorpio. How many months are people willing to wait instead of buying an XB1s? Would they buy an XB1s a month before the Scorpio? (I doubt it). Two months ... three months ... four months? Would anyone be interested in the XB1s even six months out?

In the mean time Sony will have several AAA games at the beginning of the year, 4K gaming and PSVR. I'm starting to suspect some of the delays are tactical and Sony are relying on AAA third party deals and hardware to see them through this Christmas, giving them what would be a chance to almost relaunch the PS4 in January/February.

I don't know about that. I'd put the XB1 ahead right now. I will say though that if those 4 PS4 skus stay just below the 1 XB1 sku and the XB1 sku doesn't get into the top 20, we're probably looking at a very small victory for the XB1 if things don't change.

I think it's close atm. 29 & 89 vs 50, 53 & 66. It's weirdly slow right now!
