See that's exactly what I'm talking about. One of the best rated and best selling sports games of the year comes to PS+? People just forget about it. But a random Dynasty Warriors game comes to GWG? "Oh, shame Xbox gets all these AAA games."

Should have added /s  ;)

I personally don't care about indie vs AAA. Reason why I forgot about NBA was because Gone Home was my big title for the month.

Eh.. I don't like it. But I play online a bunch with friends. So I really have no choice. I'll start buying it on sale though.

Yeah that's the thing is these are on sale on tons of sites so much that it's not gonna be the worst thing to happen.  And if people are okay with paying $50 then an extra $10 should not be that bad(if it at some point got to $100 a year then that would be outrageous unless we were getting amazing deals and tons of great games for free).  $10 is such a minuscule amount nowadays that it's sometimes ridiculous the amount of backlash. And yeah I know some people are a little more savvy when it comes to spending money.

Good thing though I'm all set through next year I believe so I have a while till I need more and if anything I'll just keep an eye out on amazon during black friday/cyber monday for them to be like 50% off or something.

*edit* The 20 increase for CAD is kinda battleship though.

AAA games could be good, but all sports games forever suck.

In the words of Miyamoto: "A delayed AAA game is eventually good, a sports game is always bad."

Also to everyone complaining about this: You have nobody but yourself to blame. You accepted the multiplayer requirement the moment it happened and jumped on PS+ without thinking twice. People shouldn't have put up with this shame in the first place.

On a more positive note, I think we all know that you'll never actually have to pay this sum if you are a bit savvy and keep looking out for deals, which happen a couple times a year anyways.

fudge that opinion.

i've been paying for ps+ since day 1 when they were giving away ps mini games.  complain all you want about a $60 subscription,.. i get 72 games a year out of that.  that has kept my backlog massively stacked.  that has kept me from needing/wanting to buy many games day-1.  waiting for sales as well as receiving extra discount via ps+ as well as getting games i wanted to pay for day-1 for free has saved me probably around $1000 a year.

fudge the rest of you all.  since ps+ i spend waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less money on gaming.  gaming is practically free for me know.  i'd be surprised if i spend even $200 a year now including my ps+ sub.

The problem with that argument is that 90%+ of current PS+ subscribers are there because of MP. People wouldn't complain remotely as much about a price increase if PS+ still worked like it did on PS3, cause back then they wouldn't lose access to substantial game features by letting their subscriptions lapse.

I fully agree that $60 per year isn't much and that complaining now that the cost was increased by 10 bucks is pretty silly. Still I and many other people never had the intention of paying for PS+, we didn't give a fudge about the games, but now we're forced to pay if we want to play MP and that's why people are pissed. And I'm still pissed that I have to pay for MP in the first place, the difference between $50 and $60 doesn't matter to me.

Lol, look at the PS4 subreddit all those people now pretending that they are going to do something. "I'm cancelling my renewal", "I'm going over to PC gaming", "ALL the games that are given away on PS+ are trash and GWG is MILES better".

L O L let me get back to you in 3 months when 99% of you guys are still on PS4 and are still using PS+.

You are 3 years too late to be enraged, console gaming in general is probably 10 years to late for that.

Whenever the Xbox came out too late.  Though, considering how everyone is trying to make everything a service (Netflix, Playstation Vue, etc) the fee for multiplayer was inevitable.

I guess you could argue that people could have stopped the whole thing when the original Xbox launched, however I would argue that it didn't really become as widespread and accepted to pay for online on consoles until the 360 era. That's when people started happily paying for Xbox Live and started even defending it, I remember that one guy on the chertz that had that sig that went like "I love paying for Xbox Live and I love that it pisses people off so much that I'm paying for Xbox Live" or something like that. That's the kinda shame that brought us into this situation in the first place, back in the 7th gen people still had a viable console alternative where they didn't have to pay, but people happily showed that they had no problem paying for online anyways. Sure you still have PC gaming nowadays, but it can't be repeated enough that many people just don't want to game on PC.

And now we're here with people complaining about the fudgy difference between $50 and $60 and constantly doing nothing but comparing the mediocre games that either service offers to each to determine which one is the best in some stupid sucker measuring contest. But the real crux of the matter is never adressed by anyone, cause the real problem is still that we have to pay for multiplayer in the first place.

I know.  It really bugged me because Microsoft switched to p2p making the entire thing a sham.  I remember I was arguing with my friend who didn't believe me when I told him Halo 3 was p2p.  On another note, I find it weird how Sony took everything MIcrosoft failed with, and made it successful (Live money wasn't enough to make them profits).

Have we ever actually gotten real information on the profits that MS' gaming division posts? They've been hiding that shame for as long as I can remember. Anyways it's not difficult to see how Sonys division is financially successful, market leader with a piece of hardware that they've probably been selling for a profit for some time now, high  PS+ revenue due to somewhat forcing users to adapt it, extra revenue from stuff like Vue or PS Now, minimizing wasted resources by abandoning failed products like the Vita or not putting any marketing resources behind games like The Tomorrow Children, which likely has no chance of being a hit in the first place, smart marketing deals etc.

From a financial standpoint the PS division is very well run at the moment, it's just that some of these smart financial decisions lead to certain outburst of dissatisfaction from their userbase, most of that stuff is fairly quickly forgotten however. This PS+ price increase will probably linger for some time if PS+ games don't improve somewhat, I can already imagine the childish shitstorm that will ensue if Septembers games don't please forums.
