NX's lineup will be absolutely packed for a few months...
I believe it when I see it.

Unless you mean with remasters, cause those I can easily see. Splatoon and Smash remastered for NX? Absolutely going to happen.

Yeah hopefully this thing is powerful enough for third party ports. Ninty buying a few here and there for just the first year could really help make the gaps less obvious.

nintendo isn't releasing any games in 2016,... clearly (like with the wii) they are just delaying all their games to fool consumers into thinking the nx will have strong support.

I can't wait to see all 3 games they have to release in the first year.

It's okay to be optimistic.  But this is Nintendo we're talking about.

I read on vgc that the loss was only about 230m. Wonder if that's more correct

Unlikely.

Nintendo had a weak start to its current fiscal year. Revenue fell 31 percent ¥61.7 billion ($585 million) during the quarter ending June 30, 2016. The gaming giant reported a loss of ‎¥24.5 billion ($232 million), down from a profit ‎¥8.3 billion ($78.7 million). That is the largest quarter one loss since 2011.
Revenue from hardware nearly fell by half from ¥44.6 billion to ‎¥25.1 billion ($238 million).
Wii U sales fell from 470,000 units a year ago to just 220,000. Nintendo 3DS sales remained more stable selling 940,000 units, down from 1.01 million units.
Software sales were up for both platforms. 8.5 million games were sold for the Nintendo 3DS, up from 7.9 million games sold. Games sold on the Wii U increased from 4.6 million to 4.7 million. However, software revenue declined from ‎¥44.4 billion to ‎¥34.9 billion ($331 million).
Smart devices and IP related income division saw an increase due to Miitomo. Revenue increased from ¥932 million a year ago to ¥1.6 billion ($15 million).
Looking ahead, quarter two sales are expected to be much higher due to the huge success of Pokémon Go. For the full fiscal year Nintendo expects to earn ¥500 billion ($4.7 billion) in revenue. That is only a one percent increase year-over-year.

I like my "Nintendoomed" one better.  It makes it seem worse in that one.

Star Fox was a huge flop. That means less than 30k lifetime, maybe excluding some shipments for launch?

Regardless of what their next portable system is, I can't see it being financially solid in the west. Smartphones have won.

If people want to play a big awesome game, they play it at home. If they just want something fun to fit within their days, they play candy crush or monument valley. Portables offer "better" games than mobile, but it's still just a watered down console experience. This middle ground is shrinking and dying.

It's impossible to beat. If they do come up with some super hardware idea, phones will just include it in the next refresh.
