Not really. She has lines from other speaches in the past and so does obama. Its not like any of these people write their own speaches

It is very odd.
Plagiarism is taken very seriously, and no person who knows what they are doing is going to do it so blatantly.

i'm very anti-trump but this whole thing is a bit silly.

actually, after all the lies he has told the fact that this is what is getting coverage is almost offensive to me.

The speech was just as cliche and boring as it was when it was used 8 years ago. While she deserves to be called out for it, I think it also reflects a terrible lack of originality in both people. It's getting way more exposure than it needs. We have more important things to discuss. What's equally irritating to me are the people on my facebook who are suddenly voting for Clinton, where they said they refused because Sanders lost, because they just can't handle a fraud like Trump's wife...

lol.  i'm hilary so i guess i'm glad for the support but the reasons people vote are just so far from well thought out these days.

Pretty much, so generic it was used in an episode of my little pony.

That was my thought when I listened to NPR comparing parts of both speeches.

Wgn radio said the same thing about my little pony yesterday. Anyway, when the goal between Obama and Trump are the same and the message the audience wants to hear from the wives are the same, two generic sentences, written by speech writers, shouldn't be a surprise

I keep finding stuff like this:
Quote"Melania Trump said the strength of your dreams is in your willingness to work for them," Spicer said. "Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony said this is your dream, anything you can do in your dreams you can do now. I mean, if we want to take a bunch of phrases and run them through a Google and say, hey, who else said them, I could come up with a list in five minutes."
Not that they literally said the exact same thing; but Mrs. Trump's comments bear far more similiarities. Literally duplicated entire phrases.
Supposedly the chances of it not being plagiarism are like 1 in a trillion.

Goal as in be president?
They are appealing to opposite audiences though, and have very different goals.
