Are you running Raspbian? I did a similiar project last year and I personally has the best emulation experience using Raspbian rather than other options such as Pidora.

Yep, running Raspbian.  Seemed like the best choice.

It powers on.  Am having troubles with booting though.  Hopefully can get it figured out tonight.

I wish you luck with that, detecting and fixing Linux boot problems has always been troubling for me. You are using the RP 3 Model B I assume?

So when I first started this thread I had a hard time with the title decideing what to name it but now that I know that there's actually a whole maker movement i change the name of the title to reflect what it actually is.

I prefer diddling over making, considering anything I make can only be described as diddled.

Formatted the SD card, and rewrote the OS on it. It's all up and running now.

This is really fricken cool.  I basically built a touch screen computer for 80$.  That's madness.
And then for another 15$, I have it running off a battery.  That's complete and utter madness.  :o

I am loving the Raspberry Pi so much, I'm just sitting here thinking of other projects I could make with these.
"Mom, dad you want a media player?  Let me build you one!"
"I could make a mini programming station with one!"

Thats what I did. I program C++ and I take my RP 3 B on the road to do so. It works as a media player sort of. I had trouble with video playback over the internet, such as youtube. It had pretty high lag, so I would recommend using OpenELEC as a duel OS system. At least that is what I had the best luck with, as it comes with Kodi, which is a pain in the arse to download on Raspbian. Kodi allows for efficient pirating of media.

The low cost shows with the relatively bad CPU and GPU, which I had trouble with running anything over the n64 at full speed. We will have to wait for a few years before gamecube emulation, but what we have now is still fine.

Yeah. Still awesome though.

I gotcha. I haven't done much with C++ but it's a cool language.
