Has a completely different tone from Dead Don't Ride.

So is there no official upload of the E3 demo on Youtube? I wanna see it played without stage fright.

Sony put one up but took it down. I'm sure you can find a mirror.

EDT: Days Gone Gameplay Reveal Trailer - E3 2016 - IGN Video

Seems that's an extended demo too. Shows like twice as much.

DerNebel

Hm, maybe the thing that bugs me about the demo is the fact that he's trying to mow down all the zombies instead of trying to get away.

But yeah looks like a more action oriented, open world TLOU in terms of gameplay

BananaKing

it was okay, it certainly was no horizon.

i really liked how the hordes of zombies just ran at you endlessly, and you just cant take them all. its no walk in the park type of zombie game, at least thats what the demo shows.

as for the setting and story, eh... feels like a TLoU/Walking dead rip off. but it can be good. the speed of the character needs to increase, he is just too slow IMO.

overall, i like the announcement, but its not a "OMG DAY ONE" horizon type of announcement.

Xevross

I'm gonna watch that IGN footage now.

Huh, this version has a HUD with a minimap

Xevross

Well that was much longer and slightly more impressive

Actually the thing that really bugs me about the game, is the AI does some weird things in the video.
Like he'll run in between 2 zombies, and it looks like they kind of disappear going away from him.  And another segment where a zombie or 2 seems to just stop right in front of them.

If they did some weird thing like backing off the AI for the demo, that's fine with me; but I hope it's not weird like that in the actual game.

I think it has potential, but I just don't see what the story really is yet.  Are we just surviving?  If yes, cool.  That doesn't seem to be the case though, so I want to learn more before I really get interested.

Seems very The Last of Us inspired in a lot of ways.
It's called God mode lol

Quote from: Legend on Jun 14, 2016, 03:31 AMThe game could end up good, but that trailer just screamed mediocrity.

I really don't see why people think the demo was bad. Maybe it's a combo of demo jankiness and being the "one last thing" to a short show?
The animations for the hoard were bad. They ran up to the barrier and instead of jumping over or sliding under they stopped... Then climbed up

They should have put this after the trailer at the start and put the horizon gameplay at the end. That would have been much better. Horizon was more drop the mic than this.

the-pi-guy

Character feels too slow for the zombies.
It works for TLoU, because the game can be slow and somewhat methodical.  But here, it just seems like it's supposed to be fast.  Zombies are fast and are in massive hordes, but we are still going TLoU speed.

Actually a lot of it looks like TLoU.  The art style is very similar, the gameplay is remarkably similar, etc.
