Exactly.

Is it a good game with great moments, or is it a great game with good moments?

Fake edit: dang it this is too hard I just want to talk about the game with out worry. Just a sec, brb.

Just finished it...I feel so empty inside. When is the next game that is really gonna blow me away like this? The Last one was The Last of Us, a Naughty Dog game...I don't know why but they just seem to be the best in the industry for this type of thing.

Uncharted 4 is a 10/10 in literally every category. Well done Naughty dog.

Spoiler for Hidden:
 • Needs a run button/move at full speed button. Lots of times in wide open areas I feel artificially sluggish when there's no good reason. Makes exploring annoying.
 • Wide linear isn't fun during platforming sections. It basically causes the game to feel like a maze where you're just bumbling along. Countless times I'd think I was exploring a path in the area when suddenly I'd pop into the next game section.
 • Minor but the scratch marks showing where to go felt out of place.
 • Pacing was horrible. Started slow but felt like it was really building up. Then the middle happened and it was just a long drawl till Elena showed up.
 • No supernatural twist/lack of enemy variety.
 • Felt unoriginal. So many scenes felt like copies from past Uncharted games. I really noticed this in Scotland when Nate hears through the cracked floor Nadine and Rafe talking. In Uncharted Drake's Fortune he overhears through the cracked floor Navarro and Roman talking. The break in scene in Italy with Sam felt so similar to the prison break in from Uncharted 2. Car chasing you down is from Uncharted 2 and TLOU.
 • Took a long time to get going. I loved the slow pace of the beginning, but the gameplay itself took a while. It wasn't until Chapter 7 that stealth and marking were finally introduced.
 • No twist or surprise or anything really. From Chapter 13 on the game feels predictable with the overarching story. Elena showing up was the most unexpected thing.
 • Bonuses are gimped once again. As far as I can tell, you can't replay the game as skelzor.
 • Melee feels the worst in the series. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is with it, but it killed me so many times. IMO Uncharted 3 perfected melee so it's jarring for the series to go backwards.
 • Game lacked awesome set pieces. Things collapsed, and things collapsed, and more things collapsed. There was never any moment that felt new to the franchise.

I'll definitely need more playthroughs.
This about sums up my experience. I need to go into full depth though when I eventually write out my thoughts.

You know the worst part about finishing this game? Its going to be a long wait for the next hit to come out of ND.

Oh my gosh have I hit a hard spot on Crushing.

Wave after wave of men yet no checkpoints. I think I've made it down to just ~5 people remaining before I'm killed. This one's going to take a lot of luck to make it through.

Which encounter is it?

I was just thinking that, so sad.

I hope they do another new IP, Druckmann can write so much better when he doesn't have constraints of there being existing characters and stories he has to work around.

Spoilers for end gameish. Chapter 18.

Spoiler for Hidden:
When you first enter Avery's mansion. My current strategy is to quickly use my three grenades to kill the rail gun dude, then run up stairs and hide in the corner in the side room. It funnels everyone that direction. Biggest challenges are the two armored machine gun guys and grenades/the grenade launcher. Sucks not being able to throw grenades back any more, but it does make them feel more significant.

My best so far is killing everyone but a few guys and the grenade launcher guy. I'm so close but argh!

Yeah I thought it would be there. Man, crushing sounds horrible. Good luck to you :D

Jeez. The Uncharted 4 - 4/10 reviewer.

Legend

Just finished my crushing playthrough. Definitly the hardest Uncharted.

Riderz1337

We should group up and play some multiplayer some time...

 • This is where I totally disagree with you. The pacing wasn't quite the perfection of U2's pacing but I think it was still dang good. The cut scenes, platforming and stealth sections were split up nicely by set pieces and action sequences.
 • This is kind of true, they did steal a lot of ideas from previous games but what games haven't done that? They added enough new things to make it feel original, like being able to drive, having a jeep, winch puzzles, the rope etc.
 • The story was mostly predictable but I didn't fully expect Sam to have lied. I didn't expect Elena or Sully to show up when they did and I wasn't expecting them all to give up and leave before Sam went off. Nadine turning on Rafe was good as well.
 • I don't remember melee being a problem for me, except in the first part where they teach you it with no way to counter the guy's punches. I guess that was it, there's not really any counter mechanic. The ending sword fight was amazing though, by far the best "boss" fight Naughty Dog has done.
 • Yeah this is a little bit true, they were a bit same-y. The convoy chase was excellent though and escaping the truck was fun. I thought the collapsing buildings were good, it didn't bother me that it happened a few times. I do agree though, set pieces were'nt on U3 or U2 level.
All things considered, I don't think its as good as U2 but its still better than the others. There were some excellent improvements to this game and the ending, crash scenes and final boss battle were just incredible. As were some other points, the amount of times I said wow out loud to the views was great.
[/size]

I think if you balances these flaws with how amazing the game was, its still easily at least a 9. On a 10 point scale its a 10 for me, no question. The multiplayer confirms that, its so dang fun.

I want to talk about all the things it does better than the past four ND games but I'll have to do that later!
end game kinda

Pacing wise, I think it was the 2nd best.
Uncharted 2 I felt was just perfect, absolutely perfect in that regard.
Uncharted 3 though, just felt bleh. There was a substantial part of the game where I just felt like "when does this part end?" "I'm pretty sure I've been in this ship/shipyard/etc area for the past hour. WHY?"
Pacing wise I would probably put it
2>4>1>3 (Not sure if 1 or 3 should be switched, but overall that's about how it feels.)
Uncharted 4's pacing didn't feel perfect, but I can't complain about any of it.

On the borrowed material note, there were a bunch of things that I remember thinking "oh that's just like Uncharted 2!" or something like that. Some of them were really small things too.

Uncharted 4 personally had me more excited than almost any of the others. I just felt like I needed to know what was going on with the island. I had an idea, but I just needed to know if it was right. I just don't think I had that type of excitement during 3 at all.
