BUT YES!

Apparently there's nothing in the credits about Crash being owned by Activision.

Lol. They are just pounding it into us. Jeez. And someone didn't think one was coming. ::)
Spoiler for Hidden:
Yeah that was brought up on GAF. Ownership by Activision would have required Sony to mention that in the credits unless they had already made a deal. It was also pointed out that while the trademark is still publicly listed as owned by Activision, that doesn't mean Sony hasn't already purchased the rights and requested a delay in public listing or something to that effect. The trademark listing for Gears of War being owned by Epic Games didn't change until about a month after Microsoft and Epic had confirmed Microsoft's purchase of the franchise. In other words, it is entirely possible, and not even unlikely, that Sony is going to some lengths to keep their purchase of the Crash rights completely under wraps until they're ready to announce it.

Spoiler for Hidden:
 • Needs a run button/move at full speed button. Lots of times in wide open areas I feel artificially sluggish when there's no good reason. Makes exploring annoying.
 • Wide linear isn't fun during platforming sections. It basically causes the game to feel like a maze where you're just bumbling along. Countless times I'd think I was exploring a path in the area when suddenly I'd pop into the next game section.
 • Minor but the scratch marks showing where to go felt out of place.
 • Pacing was horrible. Started slow but felt like it was really building up. Then the middle happened and it was just a long drawl till Elena showed up.
 • No supernatural twist/lack of enemy variety.
 • Felt unoriginal. So many scenes felt like copies from past Uncharted games. I really noticed this in Scotland when Nate hears through the cracked floor Nadine and Rafe talking. In Uncharted Drake's Fortune he overhears through the cracked floor Navarro and Roman talking. The break in scene in Italy with Sam felt so similar to the prison break in from Uncharted 2. • Took a long time to get going. I loved the slow pace of the beginning, but the gameplay itself took a while. It wasn't until Chapter 7 that stealth and marking were finally introduced.
 • No twist or surprise or anything really. From Chapter 13 on the game feels predictable with the overarching story. Elena showing up was the most unexpected thing.
 • Bonuses are gimped once again. As far as I can tell, you can't replay the game as skelzor.
 • Melee feels the worst in the series. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is with it, but it killed me so many times. IMO Uncharted 3 perfected melee so it's jarring for the series to go backwards.
 • Game lacked awesome set pieces. Things collapsed, and things collapsed, and more things collapsed. There was never any moment that felt new to the franchise.

Yeah this is a good point to be honest. There were time I felt like I wanted to sprit but couldn't. It didn't really bother me though, most of the time there was stuff to look at or a conversation to listen to so I didn't feel like I wanted to rush through.

Okay I agree with the second half of that. I enjoyed that platforming bits being more puzzle like, I thought it was fun. But yes, the number of times when I thought I was exploring a bit of a side area and might find a treasure and then something crumbled behind because it was the way forward... that was a bit annoying.

I didn't even notice those

This is where I totally disagree with you. The pacing wasn't quite the perfection of U2's pacing but I think it was still dang good. The cut scenes, platforming and stealth sections were split up nicely by set pieces and action sequences.

I'm glad that happened. The supernatural stuff is weird and out of place usually. The enemies were fairly varied, there was the usual human enemies and they were better because the brutes weren't complete bullet sponges.

This is kind of true, they did steal a lot of ideas from previous games but what games haven't done that? They added enough new things to make it feel original, like being able to drive, having a jeep, winch puzzles, the rope etc.

Yeah it was only in Chapter 7 but that wasn't very far into the game. The chapters up to 7 were very short.

The story was mostly predictable but I didn't fully expect Sam to have lied. I didn't expect Elena or Sully to show up when they did and I wasn't expecting them all to give up and leave before Sam went off. Nadine turning on Rafe was good as well.

The bonuses sound great though, I can't wait to play around with them.

I don't remember melee being a problem for me, except in the first part where they teach you it with no way to counter the guy's punches. I guess that was it, there's not really any counter mechanic. The ending sword fight was amazing though, by far the best "boss" fight Naughty Dog has done.

Yeah this is a little bit true, they were a bit same-y. The convoy chase was excellent though and escaping the truck was fun. I thought the collapsing buildings were good, it didn't bother me that it happened a few times. I do agree though, set pieces were'nt on U3 or U2 level.

All things considered, I don't think its as good as U2 but its still better than the others. There were some excellent improvements to this game and the ending, crash scenes and final boss battle were just incredible. As were some other points, the amount of times I said wow out loud to the views was great.

[/size]

I think if you balances these flaws with how amazing the game was, its still easily at least a 9. On a 10 point scale its a 10 for me, no question. The multiplayer confirms that, its so dang fun.

I want to talk about all the things it does better than the past four ND games but I'll have to do that later!

Pros

- Mechanically the game was without a shred of a doubt the best in the series, shooting feels way better, climbing is way more natural and less linear, the grappling hook is amazing.

- the encounter design is amazing, I love these "arenas" you're put into, that you can traverse in so many ways, giving you so many options to take out or avoid enemies, I can see myself replaying these encounters many times trying to achieve full stealth or something.

- Rafe is the best villain in the series, overall the acting is just top notch

- I love how they fleshed out Drakes backstory and like I said the ending is amazing imo, I actually like that they didn't kill anyone off

- graphics and production values are insane of course

- I think I also liked the puzzles more than in the other games

Cons/I'm not too sure about these

- I don't know how on board I am with the wide linear design, I love it in the combat scenarios or when climbing stuff, but in some instances it felt like I was just given a wide open space to explore, but with not enough incentives to actual do that exploring. Notes, treasures and optional conversations are neat but they don't make me want to search around in a huge open space like the one in chapter 12. That being said I think it's a perfect design for a TLOU sequel since that game has actual resources that are worth looking for.

- No supernatural element, I'm not too sure how I feel about this, I watched the Kindafunny spoilercast for this game and they were all more than fine with no supernatural element, but I think I would have just liked to see it, to find out how they would mix up combat with a new enemy type like that.

- I think the game might actually be a tad too long.
Spoiler for Hidden:
I agree with pretty much all of this, seems like we think in a very similar way!

I think the game dragged on in two sections. One just after you find libertalia and you go through a few very similar combat encounters in a row. They have the same enemies and the environments are the same (houses on the edge of a cliff). That section could have been much shorter.

Another area is travelling to new Devon with Elena. Having to get the car up three elevators and driving through very similar environments got samey. And when you got to new Devon you had to climb through different houses doing similar puzzles and another standard encounter. As much as I enjoy time with Elena if that section was either cut in half or made more varied it would be a big improvement.

From the point where you find the 10 dead founders the game is incredible. That's the best ending section to any game I can remember.

I'm almost halfway through with my second playthrough on crushing.

The "stickiness" of the character controller becomes more annoying but overall I love this higher difficulty.
