I'm seeing a mostly positive reception to this online right now. Imagine this especially from a european persons point of view, even if I would have to get the camera (do we have actually information on what is included in the package yet?), then that would still be 300 bucks less than the next best option on the market and that is excluding the hardware needed to run the thing.

At the end of the day software is still going to play a huge role here, but I think you're jumping the gun, if you're proclaiming PSVR's death based on this price point.

399 for the stand alone?

'Play standard PS4 games and videos in virtual cinema.'

Vr cinema for all ps4 games! Didn't think they'd be able to do that.

I guess I have two viewpoints on the price.

Personally, $400 seems too much for such a risky buy. With PC VR you can hack support into games and keep upgrading from system to system, but PSVR has a very real risk of flopping and content drying up. It happened with 3D gaming before.

$400 also seems too much for the average console owner, so that means VR adoption will be slow. Which will make it even more likely for content to dry up. This thing could have been a Wii 2.0 but Wii was only $249. You're not going to get a lot of impulse buys at this price.

Cinematic mode: you can play standard PS4 games or enjoy Netflix on a virtual big screen at three different zoom levels.

Probably just a black room with a floating screen. Rendering an environment around the screen would be impressive.

Man, they are being a bit sketchy about this thing right now you have to really look at the fine print to see that you need the camera and that it isn't included, even if the camera isn't too expensive in the grand scheme of things, I could still this blowing up in there face once unsuspecting new customers get their PSVR headset just to find out that they are still missing an essential accessory to use it. Same with the Move controllers assuming they are required for some games.

At this price, hopefully they announce PC support.

That would make things a lot nicer.

Looks like I'm getting it, my other gaming friends seemed happy about the price.
