They already hinted that they are working on TLOU2.

That's highly unlikely unless they had half of the studio working on that all this time and only half on U4.

Also that would mean Neil and Bruce aren't leading it and I don't like the sound of that!

They have 2 teams... the U4 team is not the TLOU2 team.
In any case right now I'm sure most U4 team have nothing work anymore (concept arts, story, etc are all done)... they are working on technical level two months before release... that means most NG can be working of full time in TLOU2 already.

I agree 2017 is a bit early for a release but the NG engine for PS4 is already done with U4... so it can have a fast development compared with U4... Holiday 2017 is not out of question or even H1 2018.

Yeah they have two times but a lot of the TLOU guys came over to work on U4 after they were finished. Naughty Dog have also said in the past that they've got as many people working on U4 as they can, to get it out.

I know they'll have another team working on another game but I think it'll only be a small one and I doubt they'll manage TLOU2 next year. If it does come next year it won't be the ND quality we're used to.

They'll have like 1.66 years after working on U4 to work on Tlou2 with full studio.

Well I'm not saying you are wrong... I'm just saying the workers of the start of a game development is different from the workers of the end of game development.

For example in the early development most work is done by concept artists, writers, etc... at the end of cycle most work is done by programmers, etc... the work near release is more technical.

All these great workers of the beginning of the game moves early another game while the technical workers catch them after the game is released.

So I believe they are working already in TLOU2... the concept part for sure is being done by the first team already... and even working on TLOU2 they will start to work in something else.

Companies have 2 teams to not have people without nothing to work between games... workers are constant moved between the teams.

Yeah I understand this but I still don't think TLOU2 will release next year. Games seem to be taking companies longer to develop nowadays and ND has never managed to release an Uncharted/ TLOU size game in the short time frame you're suggesting so I don't see how then can manage it now.

I think the first half of 2018 is more realistic. I'd love to be wrong though.

Quote from: NotBananaKing on Mar 02, 2016, 11:24 AMthe game isnt even gold yet, they havent started production of disks to have production issues. they could have easily just increased the order on discs from the manufacturer. we are a full 8 weeks away from the now delayed april launch. that seems like a heck of a lot of time to get work on any disk production issues.

the excuse reeks of battleship, because it obviously is. what ever caused that delay from march to april, has apparently taken more time, and they didnt want to admit that.
What? Nobody's talking about production issues. I'm saying Sony originally ordered x amount of copies of UC4 but now realized that they need way more on day 1 to fulfill demand, so they did in fact order more. But just because they ordered more doesn't mean that those copies will just manifest out of thin air, they have to be printed as well and any manufacturer that's worth a dang won't just have the resources and capacities being unused to be able to just produce however much more Sony now ordered in the time that they were supposed to make the originally asked for amount, so they need more time.

There's one realistic scenario I can think of where Sony would lie about the reason for this 2 week delay and that is if they did it because of R&C, you don't want to tell that to your customers, but if it's needed development finetuning that's causing this ridiculously short delay then how is that worth making up a lie about it?

Yeap I can believe Sony having supply issues for a launch in April 26th... 2 weeks of mass production give them a safe margin... remember they needs to produce others games too.

I don't know... you can't just edit the first one? I guess it is a question to @legend.

My time table would put it 2 years after U4 should have released. Delay in U4 doesn't necessarily mean a delay in TLOu

Quote from: NotBananaKing on Mar 02, 2016, 08:04 AMSeems like a battleship excuse to me. They haven't announced they went gold yet, so they are still working on it, meaning they aren't finished, and wouldn't be able to ship in time.

Basically another development delay, with a lame excuse of "we need to make enough physical disc"

Yeah... Sure seems like it
Two weeks isn't a lot of time at all, though....
