To be fair it received a big boost this week.

Good start for dragon quest builders. Decent PS4 boost and great vita boost. I hope the game has good legs and keeps those two consoles higher for now

Quote from: darkknightkryta on Feb 03, 2016, 03:52 PM?  Or are these indie devs so obscure that they would have gone bankrupt anyways?
Well for really obscure devs piracy can have a positive marketing effect.

I'm meaning devs that have made a pretty strong case that without piracy they would have been able to at least scrape along and try again. It isn't a secret that overall piracy harms the industry.

That's like an 80% increase.  Pretty big.  Things are looking up!!!!

Interesting, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is out of stock on Amazon (as in Amazon is out of copies, but you can still buy the game from 3rd party sellers). Gravity Rush Remastered is currently #6 on the hourly charts. Of course, Amazon is not representative of the entire market, but good signs for both games on this particular retailer.

Isn't Gravity Rushs physical release Amazon exclusive in the US or something?

I mean, what Indy dev went under?

I'd argue that you wouldn't really hear about indie devs going under because most are too obscure.

Yes, but still a good hold for a Japanese game.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is also charting high.

Sure but since all physical sales in the US are concentrated on Amazon I'm really not sure if it's great that the game still only reaches 6th.

Gravity Rush 2 definitely has its work cut out for itself, if they are aiming higher with that.

Grin wasn't indie.  Grin went bankrupt because they made bad games and Square cut funds to their Final Fantasy project.

But that was the point I was trying to make.  They would have went under regardless if there was piracy or not.  No one knew what their games were/are.  The closest I've seen to indies folding are cellphone games.  Which again, isn't a piracy issue.
