Yeap... I love my work too but I will never do it for free :D I need money like you Blow.
Great sales btw.
There's do "what you love, then sell it."  == Blow's lifestyle
There's also "sell what you do."  == Activision's lifestyle

Totally different things.

Splatoon sells 4m copies, bought by a third of all Wii U owners • Eurogamer.net

To put those sales into perspective, Splatoon has so far outmatched PlayStation 4 exclusives The Order and Bloodborne combined.

Not saying that this isn't possible but I sure don't recall ever getting any numbers for the Order and we don't have up to date shipment numbers for Bloodborne either.

Rorono

Combined? Bold statement (or dumb journalism as usual). BB already hit 2M before the release of GOTY edition, so The Order doesn't even need to be at 2M for that to be incorrect

Assuming that to be true:
Basically it outsold a game that was very poorly received, and a game that's conceived to be niche by many people.

The Order was definitely cut short by its poor metacritic, and general feelings early on.
Bloodborne has done really well, despite its perceived notion that it's for hardcore gamers with its difficulty.

So, yeah.  That's a terrific comparison.

Nah I believe Blow.

You should listen to some of his interviews. He really believes in what he does.

Rorono

Considering how long it took to make the Witness and how the game was marketed, I'm inclined to believe that too. I remember one PS blogcast interview (not sure if E3 or PSX) where he felt very different from the other guests and just wanted to say some things about the game and it was fairly awkward, not because he was awkward but because those things are usually staged QAs to provide bullet points on the game and quickly get them excited with catchphrases but none of that happened there

Anyway ofc money up to a point is always needed.. Can't keep doing things I'd you don't get any. But your level of desire for going beyond that line (and how much and at what cost)  is what distinguishes people. And I say people because things are different in bigger companies, as they need to be.

I'm not saying that... it just he needs money to life, do others jobs, etc... at the end he developer a game to receive money... he just have the luck to make money from what he loves.

It's backwards to the underlined.

After Braid he could have retired and just lived life as a millionaire, but instead he put that money into making The Witness.

The same can be said if Braid didn't sell well then he could never created The Witness...

People expect something... always... now I'm entering in a more crazy talk lol but even people that do free community jobs wants some kind of acceptance, recognition or feel good to do something right.

I just found a bit hypocrisy to somebody says they do a job not for the money when they are getting money...

Well I'm too offtopic now.

Hey buddy,

Sorry for my comment earlier. I think I came on a bit strong. It's just I'm one of those really grumpy guys with a stickler for details and so when I read that you said "Nintendo said Wii is officially discontinued" it didn't make sense to me as Nintendo had announced nothing of the sort.

However this is my fault as I didn't take into account that English is a second language for you so it makes sense that you may state something in a different way.

Nintendo have never put out a press release or statement confirming that the Wii or Wii Mini have been discontinued in North America, however this can be inferred from their latest earnings report. For example, In the earnings report posted yesterday there was a negative shipment to North America which implies that unsold stock had been shipped back to Nintendo from retailers. Whilst this fully implies that the Wii has been discontinued in North America, it is not the same as Nintendo putting out an official press release as there is always the chance that they may ship additional stock to a different retailer in the future. Hence why in my tweet yesterday I said "seems to be" rather than "Nintendo said". But I'm just arguing semantics at this point.

Again, sorry for making you feel as if I was accusing you of something. That was not my intention and I will of course take into account that English is not your first language in the future.

Sorry by my part... my reply was even worst.
I will try to express the things better.

BTW the last Wii shipment to NA was in March 2015 and part of it were returned this quarter like you said.

It's not hypocritical.  It's just the question of motivation.  And in some cases, it seems like 2 things seem to be happening at the same time, how do you which is actually first?

Is he making games for the sake of money, or is he making games regardless of if he's making money?

It's basically the answer to this question:
Would you take a pay cut to keep making games or would you rather make more money doing something else?

Pay cut to keep making games = I'm making games, it's a nice bonus to be getting paid.  Making games is its own reward though.
Make more money doing something else = I just want money.  Screw games.
