I had always just assumed $20.
It's probably at least $30, which isn't an amount I'm willing to spend on this at the moment.

I think it will be $40.  He was probably targeting $20 originally but he increased the scope considerably.  I forget the puzzle count but that one review estimated 60-80 hours to finish the game's story and more to 100% the game.
Quote from: Dr. Pezus on Jan 17, 2016, 04:01 PMDoes it have voice chat and coop?
It is a puzzle game.  It is single player,.. Most of the game takes place in your head as you try to reason out solutions.  The closest thing to coop in a puzzle game is called "going to YouTube to spoil the solution"

Actually the closest thing to coop in a puzzle game is Portal 2 :p

which was a separate and small addition after you completed the main single player campaign.

The Witness price revealed ($39.99 / €36.99) - NeoGAF

Quote
QuoteA lot of people have been asking about the price, so: The price of the game on both Steam and PSN will be $39.99 / €36.99 / £29.99.

Pre-orders:
QuoteA lot of people have been asking about preorders too. Preorders will go live on Steam and the Humble Store (and on this web site) today at noon PST. Unfortunately we won’t have preorders on PSN, because apparently developers have to set those up months in advance and we didn’t know that!
The preorders are regular price! They contain an amazing bonus pack-in: the warm fuzzy feeling that you have pre-ordered the game. (And that’s all). So it’s exactly the same as buying the game at launch, except earlier.

Modedit: some context regarding the price:
QuoteThere’s a lot here. When we started making this game, I figured it would have between 8 and 12 hours of playtime. As it happens, the game we’ve finally built is around 10 times as big as that: if you are a completionist who wants to wring every last drop out of the game, you might expect to play for 80 hours, or possibly 100. For people who don’t want to go quite that far, the game’s still got plenty for you.

I'm fine paying that much, I think the game looks awesome, but game pricing is so weird.

Do we value them based off dev costs, off game length/size, off quality, or something else? I personally don't like the recent trend of fluid game prices; it's so nice with movies how prices don't vary between films.

i personally like the trend that game prices are fluid.  prior to that, imo, lots of games launched at $60 that shouldn't be worth $60 to anyone.  i think it is great that prices can range from $5 to $60.

price will almost be tied to perceived value.  length, visual quality, genre, reviews, ect will all affect it.  in the end people will pay what they are willing to pay for a game.

Well I always get hyped a few days before any cool game releases since I love getting reviews and such, but the witness I'm excited to play.

Last time I was this hyped was MGSV.

I recently found out that I have more money than I thought and my PC apparently decided to repair itself (we literally just disassembled it and then put it back together and now it somehow works) so I'm open to getting this at full price again, bring on the reviews.!!
