Quote from: DerNebel on Nov 15, 2015, 05:29 PMWell Sony is going to have a couple financial flops next year as well though. I have difficulties saying anything concrete about TLG but Gravity Rush 2 and the Tomorrow Children will probably not do well at all either. R&C also has way less public interest than it deserves the way the game looks. And the whole VR project is of course a huge gamble as well.

Oh and Dreams could also possibly tank completely, but it cold also become really big, it's really hard to tell to me.
Very true. Sony is taking a lot of huge risks next year. Thankfully for them Horizon and Uncharted are going to massive and GT will be huge as well

Difference with Sony vs Microsoft (And to an extent, Nintendo) is that Sony's always investing in titles and IPs.  Look at their PSX lineup.  You had your bread and butter with Gran Turisimo, Crash and Spyro, then they invested in smaller titles like Medievil, Jersey Devil, Blasto, Omega Boost, etc.  Same with the PS2; Gran Turisimo, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, then there were little titles like Fantavision, Twisted Metal, Sly Cooper ,and before it became a Titan, God of War.  With the PS3 there was Gran Turisimo, God of War and Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, then Sony invested into Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Infamous, The Last of Us, etc.  Again with the PS4, Killzone, Uncharted, probably God of War, Infamous, all supplemented with new IPs.  Last Guardian is finally coming out, Gravity Rush, Horizion.  Whatever title overstays its welcome is eventually replaced with whatever sticks.  Problem with Microsoft (Again to an extent with Nintendo) is that, they haven't really invested in new IPs.  They milk what they have and are paying the price for it.  Though Nintendo will invest in a new IP every now and then, but Microsoft seems pretty hesitant and tends to not do much with any new IP they do invest in.

Very much doubt it'll make 2015.

VR is such a difficult thing to judge to me, I think it'll become a huge factor in gaming at some point, I just don't know if 2016 is going to be that point, if it isn't then god a lot of companies are going to lose money on that idea. I mean I see most forums as pretty sceptical of VR but have you seen how many companies are suddenly trying to launch one of these headsets? Is it like 5 or so?

Yeah, I don't know, I found it laughable when there were these couple occasions on the chertz when people would try to argue that Sony is forcing their studios into one franchise the way MS is doing, there was this one relatively new user that went through ridiculous lengths to be able to argue that, but that dude was an idiot anyway.
Sure Sony studios generally stick with one IP for a couple entries, cause that's just what devs do, you make a new IP and you see all the things that you can improve upon after the first game is out, so you generally want to stick with that franchise a little to make it perfect, but after some time it gets old and you want to stretch your legs and do something else to stay creative.
In the last 5 years there are only 2 Sony studios that did not try a new IP (correct me if I'm wrong on that) Sucker Punch and PD and I've even been hearing rumours that Sucker Punch is making something that is not Infamous at the moment, so maybe that number will soon go down to one (and lets be honest Kaz Yamauchi is obsessed with making the perfect racing game anyway). On the other hand MS has a studio dedicated to Halo, a studio dedicated to Forza, a studio that was making a new IP that is now dedicated to Gears and another one that will be working on Fable Legends for the "forseeable future" (weren't they supposed to be making a new IP too? Guess that one got the boot) and only one big studio that is making a new IP and that is Rare. I know people say that it doesn't matter since they can get exclusive new IPs by non-MS studios, but it's simply not that easy. You need some freaking internal talent that can actually make something new by itself and can't just always have outside studios make that stuff until they are fed up with it at which point you jump in and try to continue the development with your own people, look at how that's been working out with Halo and 343.

We also must not forget the sales for Christmas gifts! Many of the sales haven't started the game yet

Yep! Which is why that is very very minimum. Will surely be way over 5m

Sucker Punch actually came from Sly Cooper, so they did switch franchises, and it's possible they might be switching again.  Polyphony made Omega Boost (Which I mentioned earlier) and they tried that motor cycle sim.  Unfortunately both games never panned.  No idea if they're going to try to venture off again.

Quote from: Mmm_fish_tacos on Nov 15, 2015, 10:26 PMVery nice. That should be the holiday bundle here too.
Yeah its amazing value. For £10 less than the RRP for The Nathan Drake Collection 500GB bundle you get 1TB with TLOU, GOW3 and The Nathan Drake Collection. That would do really well in America

Rorono

That should be the 299.99 BF bundle, but with 500gb instead of 1TB of course. All first party remasters = doesn't cost them a thing. Why just NDC?? Wake up SCEA.

Yeah SCEA are terrible with bundles, they need to make some good value ones instead of just a few official game related ones every now and then
