I would, that'd be a ridiculous number. If it goes 500k over the forecast that'll be 2 million over the original... that is fairly likely

I just think since they shipped 4 million in pre holidays with the battlefront and cod bundles they can get over 6.5 million shipped.

They would need well over 6.5 million to beat their target by 2 million. Their target is 39.5m, which means they expect 10.2m in the next two quarters. You're suggesting they could manage 12.2m, which would probably mean about 9m this quarter

Hey they shipped 6 million last holiday with two remasters and a multi gen exclusive.
I believe they can with Battlefront, COD, AC, etc.

I think they'll manage a good increase, perhaps about 7.5m... 9m would be ridiculous

well last holiday Sony didnt do any real deals for the holidays. it was just a stand alone PS4 for 399$. they had the black friday deal which was PS4 with TLoU + GTA5 for 399$.

This year, they are offering a PS4 for 349$ + Starwars Battlefront. the Starwars battlefront bundle alone is a great deal. a current gen game packed in for free.

This holiday also has three Juggernauts

1 -  CoD: Black OPs, which will undoubtedly be bigger than Advanced Warefare. i think the Black Ops sub title is the biggest CoD. Sony also has an exclusive bundle, which will add some good sales, though it is limited and expensive. This years CoD is also heavily gimped on last gen, so it will cause even more people to ditch last gen consoles

2 -  Starwars Battlefront. The beta was huge, the hype is strong and the game is actually pretty great. The movie will also cause a lot of hype for the starwars franchise as a whole, and undoubtly help sales. specially if its good. another thing, buying a PS4 for Starwars is cheaper than buying an XB1. with an XB1 you can go for the cheapest bundle, which is 350$ then have to buy the game separate, which would result in it being 410$. on PS4 you can just buy the bundle at 350$. or, get a limited edition PS4 for 400$, which would be the same cost as an XB1 + SW.

3- Fallout 4. MS has marketing rights, but this game will be HUGE on PS4 and push a lot of sales. This game has been Anticipated for a LONG time now, there is so much hype behind it. it will be simply huge.

Fallout, CoD and BF will really push PS4 sales (as well as XB1). much bigger than anything did last year. the Juggernaut releases last year on PS4 in the holidays were CoD. GTA5 was big, but it was still a remaster, i doubt it had a enormous effect on sales as much as a new, current gen release would.

6 million would be a massive disappointment for PS4 this holiday. im expecting 7 million minimum. if Sony are aggressive at BF then it can reach 8 million. 9 million is possible, but very very hard for it to reach at this price point. if Uncharted were releasing, it would have helped a lot.

Yeah I completely agree, this holiday is going to be absolutely massive for PS4 without a doubt, I just think 9 million is slightly out of reach. Then again, Q3 blew away my expectations so it may happen again. I'm just saying 7.5m based on sony's 10.2m target.

We should make a prediction thread for holiday sales...

while i am not saying this is the only reason for the 4 million figure, the price cut obviously had an effect on shipments. it was just a week into octobor when it happened, so they had to prepare for it.

but since sony is expecting 10+ million these next two quarters, i think its clear they are seeing a lot of consoles sold.

i wonder if Q1 next year can be reach 4 million+. Q1 2014 was 3 million, though it was catching up on shipments. 2015 was 2.4 million, though it had 1.5 million left in stock from Q4 the year before.

Next year it will have the effect of a price drop, Uncharted 4 and Street fighter as exclusives. Farcry primal, Dark Souls and The Division, Dues X, Star Ocean and Dragon Quest Builders releasing. 4m+ would be really really hard to achieve. but if they manage three quarters in a row where they ship 4m+, that would be amazing.

There's certainly the capacity for it, February and March have been huge this gen and they're going to be even bigger for PS4 this year. It depends on how much they overship the holiday. If they don't leave much on the shelves, they can ship 4m in Q1. I can't see it though, I think they'll manage 3m but not 4m
