TOP SCORE FOR FIFA

28/Sep/2015
Thursday is the new Friday for EA and so 'FIFA 16' launched on 24th Sep, shooting straight to No1.

In terms of unit sell-through this is down around 7% over last year's 'FIFA 15' week 1, though revenue is only down 4% thanks to the concentration of sales towards Gen 8 versions and Deluxe/Ultimate Team SKU's. It's a measure of how fast things change when you consider that last year Xbox 360/PS3 versions of 'FIFA 15' accounted for 45% of week 1 units – compared to just 19% this year. Last week's Top 1-2-3 of new releases all make way, with the previous No1 'Destiny: The Taken King' from Activision Blizzard (-70%) dropping to No2, Microsoft's 'Forza Motorsport 6' (-46%) dropping one place to No3 and Konami's 'Pro Evolution Soccer 2016' (-55%) down 3 places to No6.
This week sees the launch of the 2nd toys-to-life refresh (after Disney Infinity 3 back in wk35) and it is Activision Blizzard's 'Skylanders Superchargers' racing in at No4 which is 3 positions higher than last year's 'Trap Team' week 1. 'Skylanders Superchargers' is the 5th in the Skylanders series and the starter packs launch with a range of characters/vehicles. In total this generates just over £1m this week through the Chart-Track panel of retailers. The final new release within the Top 40 is Focus/Koch's Warhammer+American Football 'Blood Bowl II' for PS4/Xbox One debuting at No15.

I think that 45%/36% split is very representative of the market share split between the two consoles. Sounds like fifa had a good start, its amazing how much the new gen has grown compared to last year, it shows you that there isn't too many active gamers left to switch over now.

I liked the list... there are some missing games but overall it is a good taste.

Just find he's been so salty lately.  It's very subtle but given the ps4 dominance it would be stupid of him not to be subtle.

Am I missing something here?  The tone of the conversation on gaf seems to suggest that xbox has done better this year in terms of increase than ps4.

But didn't the ps4 increase yoy by over 100k and the x1 fifa only by 50k?

That would suggest that 360 fifa users are converting to ps4 more than x1.

Again,  am I missing something or are they just wrong?

I was pretty confused by their comments. Doing the math, the PS4 version had a larger YOY increase than the XBO version, whether it be in terms of sales or the percentage.

The XBO version did increase in marketshare, though that was more of the result from 360/PS3 versions dropping immensely.

They are talking about market share.
Even with PS4 having the bigger boost the market share of Xbox One increased more like it get more players from PS360 than PS4.

The top comment makes sense because other big games recently have been skewed towards PS4 much more than this one. The second comment makes no sense at all

I'm not sure if people are just waiting for the new bundles, but the highest xb1 is #93 on amazon charts right now! (PS4 is #14, 31, 59, 81, 84)

Not looking too good right now

Is there any deals in other stores that might be drawing people away?

Also, why on earth is the halo bundle 499?
