im being honest here, 100% serious. if we found intelligent alien life on a planet we could reach, or if alien life found us. the human race would wage war. sooner or later, we would start killing them.

if we found alien life on a planet that isnt intelligent, but more like most animals we have now, just look at how much hunting we would do. basically we would treat them with the same love and care we treat the animals on our own planet. now tell me, how many species are endangered right now due to man kind hunting them for all sorts of stupid reasons?

Not to mention the species that are endangered due to anthropogenic climate change, pollution, deforestation, urban development, etc.

thats a CGI render, not an actual photo. not sure if we could know if there is any water on the planet or not.

hey, those are in the "ops, we didnt mean too" category. how many species are endangered or flat out extinct because humans hunted them for nothing but sport, or to sell a part of their body? imagine if we found alien life forms where a part of their body can be turned into jewelry like a rhino's horn?

There's a zero percent chance we'd rage war. Intelligent aliens will either be millions of years less advanced than us, AKA monkeys, or millions of years more advanced than us, AKA space wizards that control reality with their thoughts. Either way a war isn't happening. In the astronomically low chance that the aliens are about equal with us, even still going to war first makes no sense. These aliens will live years away and cost billions of dollars to reach. If we wanted natural resources or a second Earth, we'd just go someplace much much closer. If we for some reason wanted a work force, it'd be way too expensive to ship the aliens back. Building thousands of robots would still be billions cheaper.

The only things we'd want from them is science and culture through a telescope.

This isn't like finding America. For starters I'd like to believe we're a lot more advanced than we were, but also the distance is just so much larger. Back in the 17th century it took about two months to get to America. Right now, it'd take around six months just to get to Mars. To get to Pluto, it takes 9 years.

Yet that's just our solar system which we know lacks advanced intelligent aliens. To get to Kepler-452b with the fastest rocket we've ever conceived, it'd take 2,089,552 years. Haha we're not sending an army.

my comment was a hypothetical, if we could, we would. in reality obviously we cant and so we wont.

Correct. All we know is its volume and distance from the sun.

JWST will hopefully be able to determine atmospheric composition for exoplanets like this one though.

i wonder how id feel about finding alien life, of course excited would be one of them, but how else id feel is a complete mystery to me.

personally i believe that the possibility of alien life being out there is of course there. im a muslim and nothing in my religion states that there is or isnt any alien life out there. but on a personal level, i just dont believe we will ever find any or make contact with any.

Yeah finding aliens would be weird. However I get the stinking suspicion that unless intelligent aliens land on our planet, the vast majority of people will be unaffected. Finding fossilized microbes on Titan wouldn't cause anyone to freak out right?

somehow, it would be turned into a way to make money. make a movie about it, maybe a tv show, merchandise and so on.

Honest question:

ahaha some low born alien comes to earth to make millions on reality tv! I mean any alien would easily make money on reality tv I think (barring the gov/military striking the thing down first) but it would be funny to see an illegal alien immigration boom due to the alien life forms wanting to make money off such a thing lol
