Ahh so it's Xbox dopes just cherry picking to make Sony seem bad

Quote from: the-Pi-guy on Jul 18, 2023, 12:24 AMI saw someone on Era arguing that limiting access (he used a legal term for it that I forgot) that Sony is doing is why M&A exists, so what MS is doing is better.

Despite the fact that limiting access is why MS bought Zenimax.
No, but I've seen quite a few people arguing that Sony having a marketing deal is just as bad. Because of reasons...
I just can't even fathom how anyone can believe that's stuff.

I've seen quite a few people trying to be level headed telling people that it's the same marketing deals Xbox had in previous gens with CoD. But they don't want to see that that's the same as Sony is doing now

Sony really needs to up their pr and marketing game. You'd think Microsoft had a big lead in the west with how most internet discussions go.

They've already made it through 19 months and like 40 approvals. Wouldn't make sense for them to bail out.

What's the point of have independent regulators if companies like MS can buy their way out? It's companies like MS that need to be regulated. They already hold too much power.

Games aren't that important. It's probably right for most governments to let companies buy who they want today and break them up in 10 years if they become a monopoly.

The outcome is one I'm fine with, but I fully agree that the process of getting there has been pretty poor. Everyone just looks so stupid here.

They can break up the studios?

In the 19th and 20th century, there were monopolies in the railroad and oil industries, that were extremely deliberate in buying out and preventing competition.

The US government broke up Standard Oil, and that became Exxon, Amoco, Chevron, and dozens of other companies.

The US government has had the ability to break up companies since the late 1800's.

Yeah it's incredibly rare but the government can break up monopolies by force. Happened in the 80s with the phone companies.

Oh lord now Xbox Twitter dopes want MS to buy parts of or all of Disney since there's supposedly a rumor bob iger wants to sell stuff off.

So Disney an almost monopoly of entertainment being bought by a company that's seems to want a gaming monopoly.  I can't facepalm enough without how stupid people are
