Not sure. I think Nintendo owned 49% of rare before MS bought them.

Im not sure why Sony is doing this investment.

Not really, it's too small of an investment. Kadokawa still has controlling interest.

But, if From Software were to be sold, this makes it easier in the future for Sony. Sony could buy a bigger percentage as time goes on.

It's kind of interesting that they were able to do this.

But this is kind of boring. I honestly would have preferred if they bought some random developer I've never heard of. That would at least feel like it was having an impact on me.

Unless this somehow leads to Sony acquiring From Software in like 5 years. That would be mind blowing I guess, but not this.

agreed.  this mostly feels like money wasted.  I see no benefit to playstation from this.

I doubt its money wasted. Seems like a solid investment. From done this because they want to self publish, if they do that and start owning their IP their value can increase a lot. And thus the investment from Sony can pay off

Its not much of a strategic investment to push consoles or expand their software portfolio though
