Ah, that's how they're counteracting the bad pr with the PS5 price increase. Just give people a new thing to worry about  8)

QuoteAs we assured you before with our plans to bring select titles to PC, our efforts beyond console in no way diminish our commitment to the PlayStation community, nor our passion to keep making amazing single-player, narrative-driven experiences

Sony really wants you to know that they are not dropping single player games.

The optics are funny.
This acquisition is really tiny. Sounds like the studio only has like 10 people. It's doesn't really mean anything in the grand scheme of Sony, but it doesn't stop people from having a bad perception.

As it stands Sony seems to have at least 4 small mobile teams.
Firesprite, San Diego, Bungie I believe and now this one.

as near as i can tell they have never released a game.   wonder what got sony to look at this studio instead of the countless other mobile game studios.

Founded in 2020, they raised 4.4 million to build two studios in Helsinki and Berlin.

I'm sure a big motivation was that they were cheap, and thought they were working on something promising.

Cheap certainly.  But there are hundreds of cheap studios in the mobile space.  I'm just wondering outloud what else sony saw in them.  Nixxes was a weird studio choice at first until i saw they had expertise in ports to PC.  It became easy to predict sonys increase in pc ports after that acquisition.  What does savage do that interested sony enough to buy and what does that tell us about sony's roadmap.

My google searches produced nothing of interest.   Savage has almost no digital footprint prior to its acquisition by sony.

QuoteWe started talking with the fine folks from PlayStation over a year ago. As we've gotten to know each other, we've gained the respect of the PlayStation Studios' leadership team, who appreciate our vision and dedication to building mobile-first games. Our team was impressed that the leadership group at PlayStation is not afraid to take chances. Not to mention that it has been truly fun to work with everyone from PlayStation!

So they been working with Sony?
Anyways there is SO much money in the mobile space that Sony (and MS) should expand there.
