Fallout renewed for season 3. Season 2 is still a half year away.

On episode 4 of Dark.

I just find this show so hard to watch.

Spoiler for Hidden:
The disappearing kids, dead kids.
Mikkel being lost and looking for his dad, and not being listened to.
i mean,.. the show is literally called "dark". i hope you didn't expect something disney adjacent. :P

People said andor season 2 sucked. But now it sounds like people are hyped.

So i guess i should watch it and make up my own mind.

Its not the fact that it's "dark", it's the specific subject.

Spoiler for Hidden:
Watching stuff with kids getting hurt has been much harder since having kids of my own.

I don't think Dark is as dark as some other things, but it's a sensitive subject matter for me.

okay fair. it's been a while since i watched the show but that particular subject matter is not featured in seasons 2 and 3.

but there is a scene in I think the last episode of season 1 where you see the actual events of the subject matter you are disturbed by. be forewarned I guess.

I might be off in my episode guide though so maybe you already saw it.

That was why I stopped watching the first time, I'm prepared.

Good to know about season 2 and 3 though.

Spoiler for Dark:
I find Ulrich's actions in season 1 to be dumb.

Streaming is so bad.

I certainly notice issues with resolution, film grain, etc with anything.

But I find that I notice more issues when I am streaming from Netflix or others, which I barely use them. Compression artifacts are annoying.

Onto the second season of Dark anyways.

Disnyplus seams to have a good bitrate. Same with apple.

It's mostly good.
I notice more issues with dark scenes. It's also kind of inconsistent with how much I've noticed it.

There was one scene that practically looked like this:

Ouch.

At least better than what I'm used to with Hulu. That felt like 480p when watching shogun a good chunk of the time.

Quote from: kitler53 on May 05, 2025, 04:16 PMi kind of forget to mention. i finished owl house. pretty good with two complaints:

Spoiler for Hidden:
seemed like they wanted to make this "big reveal" moment where they figured out Emperor Belos was actually Philip. maybe it's just me but i already figured that out like 6-8 episodes earlier. if they wanted that to be a plot twist they needed to not be sooo freakin' obvious about it in the earlier episodes.

Spoiler for Hidden:
there wasn't much resolution to the story. did the show get canceled early or something?!? despite the big struggle earlier in the episodes,.. "mom, i'm home" felt more like a cliff hanger than a resolution.
actually finished it on the morning commute.

season 3 made a better ending than just stopping at season 2 and thinking it was over...

...but I dunno. it felt rushed to find some sort of conclusions with spending much. I assume it was less what the writers wanted and more all Disney would allow.

Yeah it was very much rushed.

Disney Canceled Owl House Because It Didn't Fit The Brand Says Creator

There was also some claim that the show was more popular than Disney realized, because they apparently drive a lot of decisions based on cable metrics, and Owl House was bigger on streaming. Because I think they started advertising it harder after Episode 1 of Season 3 exploded on YouTube as a free episode.
Which on the one hand, feels kind of unlikely that they wouldn't look at streaming metrics more. But I do kind of feel like a lot of companies are looking at outdated metrics too often...

my company just laid off 10% of people. a lot of them were old. one guy in particular I talked to was planning his retirement within the year. he got 15 months severance...

... decision makers are probably the dumbest people in any company.
