This launch is uncrewed. Artemis 2 is set to have a crew and Artemis 3 is set to land on the surface.

Engine 3 is having issues. Might scrub the launch.

Legend

Good PBS overview of the rocket and the general situation.

Legend

Nasa had to leave the rocket on the launch pad during hurricane Nicole. Prob gonna get damaged a bit and need to be rolled back again to verify everything is good.

2022 launch is unlikely imo.

*sees $4.1 billion in the title*

Uh oh, who's been acquired?

*reads the rest*

Oh.

That's unfortunate though.

Isn't it fun having an emotional understanding of a billion dollars?

1 SLS launch = 1 Bungie purchase + 1 Insomniac purchase

I really want to see SLS fly because huge rockets are awesome, but this program has been cursed since its inception. It didn't have a clear purpose back in 2011 and in 2022 it doesn't make sense. All cargo launches have already been moved from it to Falcon Heavy. SLS's only remaining job is transporting humans from Earth to a Starship parked near lunar orbit, and then back. Pretty stupid when Falcon 9 can do the same mission already, just by having a Starship parked in LEO instead.
