Elden Ring ranks among the top 10 best-selling premium games in the U.S. market all-time

i'm sure it will go on to sell millions more too.  

it truely astounds me that this game could do sooo much better than their previous games despite being pretty much identical gameplay aside from the free roaming aspects.   i guess i'll never question again why all of sony's games seem to be open world now.   clearly that's extraordinarily important to gamers.

NPD walked back the statement. Apparently not enough data to be 100% definitive about it.

Yeah, I think the qualifiers are very important here.  Elden ring did well no doubt but what does "preiumium games" even mean.  No doubt a lot of games would have to be thrown out to get elden ring to the top 10.  Fortnight for instance:  high quality game for sure but probably thrown out because the business model is based on mtx and not unit sales.  

When npd says it it probably means top 10 game only measuring revenue by games sold on disc on consoles in the USA.

Premium just means it costs money. Fortnight is freemium.
