so kind of skimmed this a bit now...

... my take away is that it's biggest problem is being a "space" game.  as in starfield successfully recreated the sense of exploring space which is a vast expanse of nothing of interest.   i think this is a reflect of people thinking they want one thing but not really.  they want a vast expanse of space but they actually want it to be packed with a unrealistic density of interesting content.

in other words,.. the game is exactly what i thought it was and exactly what i don't want to play.  but i can totally see why some people would be completely enthralled by this.

Yeah that's why I expected it to get lower reviews than skyrim but I didn't expect it to go this low.

The empty spaces are a big selling point for me. I don't care about space realism but having room to tell your own stories is so important. If there was just one empty planet called the "you have to build your settlement here" planet then that'd be so lame.

I think Starfield was hurt by the amazing Baldurs Gate releasing shortly before with such a flexible gameplay and story

88, now it's as good as Deathloop and Horizon Forbidden West.

Early access launch will be interesting. 88 feels disappointing because of high expectations but it's still great. Will all the first week players sing it praise and build it up or will they also suffer from high expectations and feel disappointed?
