QuoteWhen it launches, expected in the spring, the service will merge Sony's two existing subscription plans, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. Currently, PlayStation Plus is required for most online multiplayer games and offers free monthly titles, while PlayStation Now allows users to stream or download older games. Documents reviewed by Bloomberg suggest that Sony plans to retain the PlayStation Plus branding but phase out PlayStation Now

QuoteDetails on Spartacus may still not be finalized, but documentation reviewed by Bloomberg outlines a service with three tiers. The first would include existing PlayStation Plus benefits. The second would offer a large catalog of PlayStation 4 and, eventually, PlayStation 5 games. The third tier would add extended demos, game streaming and a library of classic PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games. A representative for PlayStation didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

I've given up on gamepass because it removes games. I don't need a Sony version.

without day-1 Sony games it's probably DOA.

they need to at least have a public policy for them, "arrive in 6-months". if it is at Sony's discretion when they come to the service I have less than 0 interest in the service.

Probably should go in the insider thread:
era sauce

QuoteThe plan is to have 100s of PS1 games on the service, however.

QuoteI can say PS2 and PSP will be available some time after launch

They also made mention of this exact service a couple days ago.

Not interested in a Sony Gamepass.

But a BC push with PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP titles? Heck yes.

Considering how much sony's first party games sell and how much money they make they would be absolutely dumb to include those games day 1. Plus for me i will gladly pay full price for their games that i have high interest in, because i want them to succeed and make money to make more games.

Either way i'd likely pay, but i'll see the offerings first at least before deciding.

The real question here is... will any of this be legal?

Spoiler for Hidden:
I am so sorry.

I still feel bad for that guy that just had an honest question about anticompetitive practices.

a legit question. MS is the king and killing competition by using their profits in other areas to force a company into bankruptcy. zoom will die soon to this.

Someone on Era suggested this.

But what would people think if the service offered a discount for big exclusives?

Imagine 15% off for God of War Ragnarok day 1. It's of course not as good as Game Pass, but maybe it'd be good enough with a large library of late games + some kind of discount on launch games.

(not that it's an amazing deal or anything, but it could be an easy way to sweeten the deal)

kitler53

if it was a discount on all preorders that would be a thing. basically bring the $70 price tag back down to $60...

I really don't care for a gamepass like subscription model. After 7+ years with PS+ I have hundreds of games in my backlog. By the time I get my PS5 ill have dozens of games for it too, (hundreds if you count the PS4 ones). So I essentially have the same concept going on.

Yes, they are older games, but its half the price of gamepass, and honestly I get PS+ on deals so its even cheaper. And at least I get to keep the games, unlike gamepass. I just hope this brings some kind of improvement to current PS+ sub at the same price.

kitler53

I agree with banana.

I have a ton of ps+ games. too many really. I don't play too many of them either. i've looked through gamepass's library and have the same general disgust as my ps+ library,.. I don't want to play many of them and for the few I do it is of a lesser priory than other games I have or want.

and then it's expensive. ps+ is $45 each black Friday. gamepass is $180. I don't spend $200 a year on games,.. I'm fine waiting a year for price drops so most of my games cost less than $20.

between knowing I own them, can't lose access to them, and I play a lot of games that never come to the service I think buying is a much better choice for me.
