Metro review snippets:

QuoteOne of our main complaints about the Xbox Series X is that it just doesn't feel like a new console, let alone the most powerful one ever made. The dashboard is the same, the controller is virtually the same, and all the games are the same as those that are already out. The PlayStation 5 though is the exact opposite, in that it is clearly very different from the PlayStation 4, while still maintaining backwards compatibility.

QuoteLike the Xbox Series X, the PlayStation 5 is also able to quick resume a game if you turn it off and come back to it later. Although the Switcher icon that some noticed on the Home menu is basically just a history button, showing you the last few games or apps that you used and starting them up from scratch if you want to play them again.
QuoteIn terms of graphical power, the tech specs suggest that the PlayStation 5 is slightly less powerful than the Xbox Series X, while its SSD is faster. Since there's no game that is even close to pushing the capabilities of the Xbox Series X there's no way to demonstrate that yet, and in any case we're only able to talk about Astro's Playroom and Spider-Man: Miles Morales at the moment – but both those games are far more impressive, and interesting, than anything we've seen on the Xbox Series X. We don't have Demon's Souls in yet, which looks to be the most technically capable of the launch titles, but there's literally no comparison with the Xbox and PlayStation 5 line-up given Microsoft's complete reliance on cross-gen games and older Xbox One titles.

"this thing is mental.  It's mental and if you pre-ordered one good for you.  If you haven't I'm really sorry."

I only watched this because someone shared a snippet about bluetooth.

Complaint: this guy doesn't know very much about the console. Said that he was trying to get PS3 games to play and that BC seems to only be for PS4 games.

Pro: that top quote made me laugh.

PS5 loading slower than series X in most regards is not something I was expecting, that's a bummer.

In terms of BC games?

BC and resuming from rest mode the console are both slower. Also Series X has quick resume and PS5 does not.

PS5 has a switcher and activity cards though, if you load into another game through a card it takes less than 10 seconds to boot the game to the point you want to be at, so that somewhat makes up for it.

Must be the OS is not as optimized. Hopefully it's not the same with new games

Where did you see that?

On Era, BC games are slower on PS5 pretty much universally and PS5 resumes from rest slower. PS5 also has no quick resume.

At least IGN say loading times in Miles are near nonexistent

Dualsense controller seems the best next gen feature!

Yeah PS5 loads optimised games much faster, loading screens non-existant and the much better SSD allows for many other advantages. PS5 loads closed games a lot faster than XSX, but XSX has quick resume for instant switching between a few. However PS5 has activity cards which allow you to jump to a point you want in another game in under 10 seconds with super fast loading of the game from cold.

So in terms of loading they're pretty equal overall, when we expected PS5 to be much better. Within an optimised game PS5 has the advantage though.

Yeah seems like Dualsense might be PS5's biggest advantage and best feature, its incredible.

Well if it's just next gen optimized games... we clearly won't be playing many of those on the PS5 in the future. :P

Also I personally think reviewing a console at its launch is kinda meaningless, I understand why it's being done but a system is nothing without its games and that picture won't be clear until a couple years in. But anyways that's just my opinion.
