Do you play games to be good at games?

I've never cared about my "gamer skill." Sure it's fun to be better than your friends but I don't feel like games are a challenge meant to be "beat."

Roguelikes are basically a whole genre focused on being good and from a player perspective I find them stupid. Why would I care about improving my own skills run over run unless the game has other elements to make it fun? Roguelites however are a lot better since some progress carries over after each run.

nope.  i just play for fun.  i'm at best a solid average player from a skill perspective.  i'm okay with that.

I play for fun only.  

Although sometimes it's fun to challenge yourself to get as far as you can.  Like with Black Ops zombies, I enjoyed getting as far as I could.
