that's part of why i preordered one.    

nintendo literally put an asterisks on their announcement of maintaining their current launch prices.   if tariffs aren't removed switch 2 will see a price increase as soon as the initial shipments are sold though.

forza sells 2.2 million on ps5 according to someone.



34 million gamepass subs * $20 per month (highest possible revenue) /12 = ~56.6 million a month.

2.2 million forza sales on ps5 * $48 (lowest sale price to date of the lowest tier sku) * 0.7 (sony tax) / 2 months = 36.9 million a month.


it's really not hard to see why MS is going multiplat.   even in this comparison that is intentionally extraordinarily favorable to gamepass you can see revenues from just 1 game on just 1 platform rival revenues from gamepass WW.  forget if gamepass is "sustainable".   it's just bad business to make less money than you could with a different business model.

given the position MS is in i think multiplat is the best thing xbox can do.   it's awesome for sony to get that platform tax but xbox is just too small to get a ton of value out of that especially when they have trained their customers to not buy software and just wait for it to come to gamepass.   i'm not sure what their platform tax revenue is but i feel certain it is not enough to justify continued investment into hardware for them.
