I just read them say Q4 and presumed it meant Jan-March. Seems to be the norm for the game industry.

Microsoft q4 is April-June but Sony and Nintendo q4 is Jan-March.

Guess Japanese game companies mostly due it the way you were thinking.

They said 2018 at D23.
This is apparently where the Q4 release date came from. Looks like it says Q3, which would be the fourth quarter of the year.  
So the game was probably delayed by a month.
