Quote from: BananaKing on Mar 05, 2017, 01:10 PMseems so. usually when things release here they are over priced as fudge. its a very small market so companies dont keep tabs on retailers here as its not worth it. but if the product is successful the price drops down so they can sell more, like how it is with the PS4. its actually cheaper here than it is in the USA. which is surprising. hell new games here now cost 50$ on release if you know where to shop from.
Are those prices sale tax included?

yeah they include tax.

prices have really dropped this gen though for software. seems compitition between stores is ranking up so they are forced to drop prices. which is good because last gen i usually got a new game for 65-60. hell even with time prices of games didnt drop for the most part.

dang that's insane, because US prices are pre tax as well.

50$ for a new game is even cheaper than UK pricing then, wow.

I wonder what the causes of dropping prices is

I wonder too, the margin on games are terrible.  I've had 3 different people from 3 different stores tell me the same thing; there's a 4 dollar margin on games here.

GameStop?

http://nintendoeverything.com/switch-had-one-of-the-strongest-and-most-successful-gaming-console-launches-for-gamestop-in-the-last-several-years/

"Stores across the country last night were packed with customers who couldn't wait to get their hands on the brand new Nintendo Switch. We even had customers lining up as early as yesterday morning so that they could be one of the lucky ones to score one of the additional units for our walk-in customers. This is one of the strongest and most successful gaming console launches for GameStop in the last several years. For those fans who are still looking for the Nintendo Switch, don't worry–we're getting more. And, we're pretty sure that there are a lot of gaming fans who pulled all-nighters last night playing their new Switch, and who also called in sick to work today with 'game-fluenza' just to stay home and play even more."

I feel the spin using Slim, S, Pro, 2DS, etc launches.

Because I don't believe it sold over 1m in US day one (PS4 launch).

It's obvious why companies which only deal in game sales are struggling

Yeah it's ridiculous.  Like the publishers can't cut the price of games to retailers cause they barely break even, unless it's some cash cow.  Developers get no money since the publishers barely make money and can't give it to them.  I seriously have no clue how the game industry hasn't collapsed yet.

My roommates father got a Switch, without pre-ordering and without going to a midnight launch to stand in line either, I presume. Surprising that he could find one this easily.

That's kind of bad. I wonder if it's the only GAME in Cardiff.

Bloody Welsh, not buying the switch!

I know what it is, it's those fugly grey joy cons.  Should have done colour only.

Horizon 276 units sold
BotW 333 (258 on Switch)
Nier Automata 311 (with a great second week of 93)
Nioh 184
RE7 472
Gravity Rush 2 93
Uncharted 4 165

I do think Zelda sold more though. New consoles tend to have a better ratio

Yeah pretty sure. Still great number for Horizon, over 100k seems like a lock.

Holy fudge! That's amazing for Horizon, it only had about 60 pre orders! If the ratio stays at about 500:1 that would be incredible
