SCROLLS STROLLS TO THE TOP

15/Jun/2015
Bethesda Softworks take top spot as 'The Elder Scrolls Online' becomes their first chart topping title since 'Wolfenstein: The New Order' just over a year ago.

Although the original PC version of the title launched in April last year, the new updated versions feature a subscription free model as well as several new updates. Having launched on Tuesday 'The Elder Scrolls Online' is the third title to break through the 100k sales mark in its first week in 2015, delivering a bigger week 1 than 'Battlefield Hardline' but still behind 'The Witcher III: Wild Hunt', which remains the biggest debut of the year so far.
Following on from the success of the movie which also released this week Warner Bros' 'Lego Jurassic World' roars into the chart at No2. With 'The Elder Scrolls Online' taking No1 the consecutive five week run of Bandai Namco is ended as 'The Witcher III: Wild Hunt' (-48%) drops down to No3. Another title making the jump to Gen 8 consoles debuts at No4 with 505 Games' 'Payday 2: Crimewave Edition' for Xbox One and PS4. The original 'Payday 2' topped the charts back in August 2013 and the Crimewave Edition adds improved visuals and new content to the title. 'Grand Theft Auto V' (-34%) is not far behind but makes way for the new titles dropping down to No5. 'FIFA 15' (-23%) is at No6 and remains comfortably ahead of a resurgent 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' (+11%), which climbs to No7. Wii U exclusive 'Splatoon' (4,948 / -44%) is down to No8 in its third week on chart although is sure to see a boost with an official hardware bundle due to launch on the platform next week. 'Battlefield Hardline' ( -39%) is down four places to No9 and 'Farming Simulator 15' (-26%) rounds off the Top 10.

I was wondering where this was.  ;D
I find it hilarious that yso's predictions for Splatoon's 2nd and 3rd week have been wrong by a lot.  ;D

Not by a lot. Just by a few thousand.

The quotes below come from Scott Moffitt, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America, who spoke with GamesBeat...
On Splatoon's success/new IPs...
Moffitt: You're probably right. That could have been under Mario. We love the fan response to Splatoon. It's gotten off to a fantastic start worldwide. It's driving console sales for us. It's generated Wii U momentum, and that's momentum we're going to carry through to Super Mario Maker, Star Fox, Animal Crossing, Amiibo Festival, and beyond.I don't know if you've had a chance to play the game, but I loved the comment coming out of E3 last year. "Who would have thought the number one FPS game at E3 would be developed by Nintendo?" The reaction we're getting from our fans is, "It's a great game I can play, but I also finally have an FPS game that I can play with my son or daughter and feel good about it." You still have all the fun elements of strategy in that game, of weapon selection. There are newmaps being released, new content being released every week for that game.
It is a new IP that we believe has a bright future. I'm convinced that game is going to have a great holiday. A lot of fans are reading and hearing about it now. They're going to want to get in and play that game. It has different modes that appeal to different kinds of gamers. It's a pick-up-and-play FPS for people who haven't played an FPS before. It allows you an easy on-ramp. But the ranked mode is as hard as it gets for core gamers that want an intense experience. The four-on-four multiplayer is where the game shines, but the single-player mode is getting a lot of positive buzz as well. There's a lot to be unlocked and enjoyed and appreciate in that game.

Why are people putting 4 million in the poll? That's just ever so slightly above killzone numbers.

No wonder why Microsoft played the BC card.
