Nintendo has sold over 450,000 amiibo in France - Nintendo Everything

Le Journal des Loisirs Interactifs is reporting that Nintendo has sold more than 450,000 amiibo in France. That number accounts for all figures moved since launch last November. The last number we heard about was in January, when Nintendo said it had sold over 200,000 amiibo in France.

Our presale numbers were amazing, close to Mario Kart 8 numbers a year ago, which is amazing because Mario Kart is an established franchise. Splatoon's challenge is that a few months ago, nobody had ever heard of it.

I love that as a dad it's something I can play with my seven-year-old. It's a complete revolution on what a shooter can be.

We're looking at first weekend sales of about half of where Mario Kart 8 was. Given that Mario Kart 8 was one of the best-selling games last year, that's extraordinary for a brand new IP like this.

Fans think it was the halo news, but if it can't hold the top spot on amazon for more than a few hours I doubt it will have a lasting effect. Who knows really. It could also be the slow down leading up to e3. People might hold off on buying a ps4 hoping for a price cut or new bundle.
