That people even look at these stupid labels, but yeah looks like this trailer was just cobbled together quickly.
And you'd be absolutely right.

that is really a great line up even without god of war which i expect early 2018.  i'm a bit surprised at the lack of spiderman though.  insomniac ussually delivers their games quickly.

i really need to find more time to game this year.
Maybe they're building a much bigger,  challenging and high budget game then usual. Considering its Spiderman it's likely.

I was about to write something until I remembered Resistance.  Resistance 3 was on a 3 year timeline.  Maybe Spider-man is getting the same?  I really hope they think the game through.  The few open world Spider-man games were a bit disappointing for me.  Not because they weren't good, but because doing everything in the open without levels is really blah.  Hopefully they figure out combing great combat, open world, with good level design (Like Arkham City and Origins).

i think Sunset overdrive also took 3 years. i wouldnt be surprised if this took 3 years. they already had a PS4 engine with the release of ratchet and clank, already had a lot of lore, story, character and ideas ready at hand, and already had experience and tools for creating open world games.

i agree, they really do need to think the games world through. fetch quests and meaningless side quests these days arent enough for open world games. depth, detail and interesting content needs to be created.

I got time to play the first ~ 7 hours of Watch Dogs 2 and, as one of those rare people that loved the first game, I'm pretty disappointed so far.

I just read a GAF thread arguing that the first game is better and so far I completely agree with it. Kind of sad, after I read so many people saying WD2 was a big improvement I couldn't wait to play it. So far I just feel a bit let down.

You're so racist! Just because the main character is black you like the first game more. Ugh. This is why we need more safe spaces.

...am I doing it right?

Sucks you're not enjoying it. What changes make it worse?

The controls and general gameplay feel a lot worse to me. The placement of buttons and actions just feels off and I keep pressing the wrong button in the middle of combat and dying as a result. Stealth doesn't seem as good either. The enemy AI appears worse in WD2, they can just be so dumb so often its very annoying. I try to complete missions by stealth as much as I can, as that's what it feels like Marcus would be doing, but for a lot of missions just going in and shooting everyone is so much easier. Stealth takes way too long in comparison and often doesn't work because you haven't got the right upgrade from the skill tree to get through that door over there, and other things like that. So you're driven to shooting everyone much more than the first game, yet gunplay is noticeably worse.

The missions are ridiculously repetitive so far and I'm pretty bored of it already. The vast majority of missions so far have been infiltrate this place and hack this particular panel. Its getting so boring.

The puzzles seem to be pretty much exactly the same but appear less frequently than the first game, which is sad because I quite like them.

The first game had a great open world with lots of different side missions that felt fun to complete but with WD2 the world seems so empty and bland so far. The time trials look fun but driving in WD2 feels so bad, especially after playing so much GTAV that I can't enjoy them.

Also while most people like the cast of WD2 I... don't, to be honest. I don't particularly like Marcus or any of the gang to be honest. They don't seem like the kind of people you would expect hackers to be and they can be really annoying with the way they talk sometimes. Also it bugs me that followers are the XP system in this game, because you gain followers for doing some really weird stuff. Like why would 20,000 people start following dedsec because I went and talked to someone in a cafe?

That being said, the hacking in WD2 is a lot better. There's so many more options to hack and I like how that adds to the stealth experience.

I'll quote a post on gaf which explains what annoys me so much about Marcus and the gang in this game:

NeoGAF - View Single Post -  Watch Dogs 1 is a better game than its sequel

Quote
Agreed.  I'm playing through Watch Dogs 2 right now, and while I'm enjoying it, it has really dropped the ball big time in areas that the first game excelled at.  Scoping out an enemy location with your hacks, infiltrating with stealth and then resorting to guns when shame hits the fan felt so good.  I've said it time and time again, but Watch Dogs 1 has the best gunplay and stealth I've ever encountered in a GTA-esque game, easily.  In Watch Dogs 2, I dunno, everything feels like it controls worse?  The same dynamic of infiltrating a hideout and gradually wiping it out just isn't there.  In Watch Dogs 2, if I'm caught by somebody, I'm essentially doomed.  Reinforcements are called, I get surrounded because suddenly everyone knows where I am and that's it... game over.

And that's not even mentioning the severe dissonance there is between your ragtag crew of kooky hactivists who want to make the world a better place and the way you can play Marcus as your typical GTA protagonist.  He's a lot more likeable than Aiden for sure, but say what you will about the guy, at least when Aiden went on the rampage and started killing people in waves, it actually felt tonally consistent with the rest of the game.  All I do with Marcus is rely on his stun gun and drones.  Anything else feels wildly out of character, which doesn't make combat sections any fun at all.  Even seeing him hold a gun just looks wrong.

WD2 is fun, but for very different reasons to the first, and that doesn't quite jive with me.  I like that it's a lot more chilled and light-hearted and humorous (even if it isn't actually funny), but I would happily sacrifice all of that for the tone of the first game if it meant I could get back those same gameplay mechanics.
Plus I still like Clara and Jordi way more than anybody in the sequel.  Jordi was fudgy awesome.  Maybe in Watch Dogs 3 he can be the protagonist?

The bolded paragraph is what I'm talking about. Using a gun with Marcus just feels completely wrong, yet often you have to do it. I try to use stealth and the stun gun but that either takes waaaay to long or doesn't work at all in a lot of cases.

nnodley

Stealth for me is far superior in WD2.  I've stealthed everything without ever getting caught in every situation so far.  RC jumber and drone add a ton of variety to how to approach missions, imo.  I do agree using a regular gun is odd for marcus.  Only time I used a normal gun was to get up to level 5 wanted to escape it and get the trophy.  Not to mention the guns feel and sound horrible.   Thats probably the only negative I really have.

I've honestly been thinking about this more recently but a reskinned Arkham game into Spider-man would actually be perfect.  Combat and all.

Are... there people who are actually saying that?
There are certainly people out there whose twisted victimhood logic would immediately jump to that conclusion. You can trust me when I say that, at least in the US and parts of Europe, you are only ever a moment away from someone immediately going on the attack when there is ANY situation and ANY possible perception where a non-white person, fictional or otherwise, in some way/shape/form loses to a white person. No matter how petty or irrelevant the scenario is, someone is prepared to start a fight over it. Because these people believe they're fighting some good fight against the evil white man. For fudge's sake, I've seen people pissing and moaning that there are not obese, transgender, "colored" women as stars of video games. Well no fudgy shame. Who the fudge is going to buy that game?
