Lame.

Season passes are too complicated and vary game to game; never know what's actually included.

QuoteLaunch trailerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtEoS0MaNyA Download only in North America. Getting a retail release with Heavy Rain on March 2nd in Europe: http://blog.fr.playstation.com/2015/...e-26-novembre/
QuoteHello, PlayStation fans. I'm pleased to announce that Beyond: Two Souls is coming to PS4 next week, complete with graphical improvements and new fan-requested features. You'll be able to download it from PlayStation Store starting November 24th for $29.99. Players will have another chance to experience the story of Jodie Holmes (played, excellently, by Ellen Page), a young woman who possesses supernatural powers through her psychic link to an invisible entity. Holmes' journey is intertwined with the complex Dr. Dawkins (brought to life by the inimitable Willem Dafoe), on PS4.The PS4 edition of the game features a number of improvements:
  • Enhanced 1080p graphics including motion blur, bloom and depth of field effects, as well as improved lighting and shadows. The game also makes use of the DualShock 4 speaker to improve immersion when playing as the Entity.
  • Decisions are highlighted at the end of each scene and compared with those made by other players.
  • Once you have completed Beyond: Two Souls, you will be able to replay the game in chronological order — a much requested feature in the PS3 version!
  • Increased difficulty in certain fight scene, combined with improved controls for action sequences.
  • Includes the "Enhanced Experiments" DLC
We can also now confirm that Heavy Rain will be coming to PS4 digitally next year on March 1st. For those attending PlayStation Experience this year, you'll be able to get hands-on time with both Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain. What's more, those who purchase Beyond: Two Souls digitally will be entitled to download Heavy Rain on PS4 when it releases at a discount.http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/...out-next-year/

More to come at PSX? Also the emulator is actually upgrading at these games graphics and performance hope the same holds true for all games. And I seriously hope you'll be able to put inyour old discs and they'll work as well as not having to rebuy games you already own digitally on PS3.

I expected those star wars games to just be ports, but oooooooooooh interesting!

If they really are adding PS1 and PS2 BC, then it needs to be free for previous owners or else Sony would look incompetent next to XBO.

Maybe they'll even add PS3 BC!

Yeah, I hope it is not locked behind a paywall (e.g. requires PS+).

As for PS3 BC, I know it is possible, but I doubt Sony will be able to pull if off in a feasible manner.

Ps3 BC isn't possible.

As for that stuff.. If the games are running their own wrapper I don't think disc emulation will be possible. They'd have to release a general emulator that'd run into problems playing certain games with anything other than a flawless emulator (yeah right). Just classics bought digitally, this time with extra features compared to classics on Vita and ps3. Most they need to do in that case is allow cross buy for those that already bought a classic previously (on Vita or ps3).

Pop the game disc in and a download of the emulatable version of the game starts, it's being done that way with 360 games on the X1 so I don't see why the same shouldn't be possible with this as well, easy.

If the emulation rumor is true where there's b/c with old games - even if not physical but digital only - I will be happy.

darkknightkryta

Classic titles are most likely going to be download only.  The emulator is sending calls to the GPU which will give a lot of emulation issues.  Anything using the "bloom" effects and stuff will be gone, most likely, since no current video card (Which is in the PS4) can actually emulate that properly.  Hell even when porting some games they couldn't do it right (Okami).  So that means Sony would have to be dealing with a lot of "This game doesn't work" if they release the emulator.

It's possible, just not realistic.  ;)

There are a lot of tricks a fully funded team could come up with/use.

Recompiling each binary through a recompiler and testing the hell out of each title and putting it up on the network?

Yep. Like I said, possible but not feasible.

That emulated version of the game would have to exist in the first place..meaning Sony would have to make it. Not gonna happen. Too much effort for old games that only some of us old timers would use, and it's not like they'd bet on the feature selling many PS4s (unlike MS's delusion). They'll release specific emulated classics with slight tech improvements and trophies, that's it really.
Of course they could still do a limited selection of games the way you said,  with certain groups of games (SCE games + a couple of iconic third party games) but I doubt they'd ever go beyond that (plus, the older the games, the more likely to find ones with legal issues, which will also limit the amount of games available as downloadable classics).
To actually run all games they'd need to release an emulator much like pcsx2 (not a different emulated game each time) and publish a list of which games work fine and which ones may present issues. But from what I read it doesn't look like these SW games are running like that.
