Releasing Tomb Raider exclusively on XBO made sense. 
From SE's point of view
-MS pays a little.
-get to release their game when Uncharted 4 isn't releasing on the same platform.

From MS's point of view
-MS pays a little
-Gets to have a major exclusive to launch during the holidays against U4. 

Now that Uncharted 4 has been delayed to spring, SE lost a bit.  Now they have U4 for competition.
