Quote from: kitler53 on Dec 13, 2021, 01:36 PMI just got around to requesting it in October.  I got no confirmation at all other than the website and no status updates.  but just over a month later after I resigned myself to not getting one it showed up at my door.
So I might get it as a Christmas gift  8)

maybe.  i can only talk for myself.   i can't say i'm unhappy about the situation,.. sony didn't really have to create the dongle at all and they really didn't have to ship it for free.  it's super nice of them to make that extra effort to support BC.  ...but man, the amount of communication related to the shipment of the part specifically could really be improved.  The webpage gave me a very simple "yes you've submitted a request and we may or may not honor it" message and then just nothing until the day it arrived.

Indeed. But they're offering a lot of cool VR games with Plus these days and I want to try  :o

Do you guys ever think of Sony's PS4 announcement show?

There was stuff about being able to instantly play PS4 games through Gaikai, a huge push for mobile connectivity (play with your friends, see what they're doing, remote play on the train)

I feel like most people only remember the second half when they were showing developers and tons of next gen games.

But the first half is kind of funny. Some stuff is still around, but not super relevant. Some stuff never really happened.

Overall though, Sony's vision for the future of game consoles turned out to be far more relevant than MS's.

agreed.  the first half of the show was pretty exciting tbh.   i wish sony hadn't blotched shareplay.  i with the integration with gaikia had actually happened,.. still don't understand why it didn't.  but clearly it was a better vision than kinect and tv and sports.

i've said it before and i'll say it again,.. psn should have turned into a facebook on consoles sort of thing.  sharing screens and videos shouldn't be an integration to actual facebook.  i don't want to share all this crud with everyone,.. i want to share it with my gamer friends.  i want is integrated directly on my console to make it more social.  see and watch my friends game easily.  drop into co-op easily.

i've said it before and i'll say it again,.. i should be able to play EVERY game in my digital library via the cloud while i'm waiting for the game to download and i should be able to seamlessly cut over from the cloud to local play when the download is complete.  i should be able to seamlessly play from the cloud when i'm not at home.   ...by this i mostly mean cloud save management.

i've said it before and i'll say it again,.. i should be able to use any music service i want not just spotify.

i've said it before and i'll say it again,.. i should be able to gift a game to a friend.

i've never said it before but i'll say it now,.. sony really needs to get ps1/2/3 BC figured out.  i dunno if its a money maker or not but its become and important talking point for xbox and there are soo many amazing games on those systems.  hell, i'll even rebuy some of the games i already own if i had too.  i really miss not having the ratchet and clank games and puppeteer and kz 2 and Gow 1 and 2.

these are the things i want out of the OS.   i really hope some of this comes to ps5.

Finished rise of the Tomb raider. Decent, but nothing special.

I played through it as a linear game, didnt bother with the exploration or side content. Which kinda punishes you with regards to upgrades, which I didnt like. Story was alright, writing and voice acting was a bit dull, characters are dull too.

I remember the talk about it auto downloading games because it predicts you'll buy them.

Glad that never became a thing, outside of 1 or 2 games.

i agree with that.  i like the system as we have it.  being able to download a game immediatly after i buy it via the web is great.  downloading games i preordered is great.  cluttering my system with games i don't want is not great.
