It's always been the fun show with mostly quirky games.

Sure, but the implication of that Gamespot quote is that the announcements will start during the pre-show but that 7 new announcements will be the number of announcements in the pre-show and the conference combined. At least that's how I read it.

According to Sony there are probably going to be a couple more announcements during the actual conference.

Well yeah but I don't count that as a release date.  We all know with them it could be delayed easily.

I'm not sure how I feel about the changes to Assassins creed.  I'm one that still liked the old formula for the game but it did need tweaks.  The full blown RPG of the new one is odd.  It's too heavily influenced by far cry, witcher, etc.  Combat is definitely harder but it takes a bit to get used to.  you don't feel all powerful like before.   Egypt is amazing so far though, but so far miss the large city structures and free running on rooftops across the map.

Paying for online sucks. If it was just for that, I'd only subscribe on a per month basis when a mp game releases.
