Quote from: DerNebel on Mar 05, 2017, 12:51 PMBtw. I'm level 23 and I'm not even through the gate that takes you out of the Nora land yet. I do too much side questing. :D
I did my usual in an open world of mainly focussing on the main story, but I did more side activities than normal in horizon.

I think Horizon is the only the third open world game that I've wanted to go back and explore the world more in.

I think I was around that level when I went to the main area of the map, maybe a little bit over

I think the biggest improvement for the sequel would be a melee combat overhaul, mainly for fighting humans.

I like that in this game the machines are very dangerous at close range, and going in for melee is risky but very rewarding, so I think that dynamic should say. However, I think if human enemies were made into mainly melee encounters that would be a great improvement. They could add more weapons; like axes, spears, maces etc. and instead of human enemies (annoyingly) having mostly bows and then charging at you and elastically hitting you they could have a more fleshed out melee experience.

Currently, human enemies at close range decide they're going to hit you and all you can do is dodge roll away, and often they attack faster so if you go in for melee you have a good chance of taking damage. Instead they could equip human enemies with mostly melee weapons and make it like a proper melee fight (like chivalry or similar, but not as involved). That way you'd get a ranged combat fix with the machines and a melee combat fix with humans and it would be a nice variety.

Quote from: BananaKing on Mar 05, 2017, 08:31 AMnaaa. they should just leave killzone behind. its done for. make Horizon 2, and start developing a new IP after it with a small team, while the majority of the studio works on Horizon 3. release Horizon 3 then the new IP.
That's a valid argument saying they should leave it behind.  Imo instead of making Horizon 2 make another new Ip that's a futuristic shooter to replace killzone.  And as I said make it semi open world like TLOU.

And then Horizon 2. I don't want them to milk this ip so imo it should be a ps5 title.

They still have that unanswered question as to what happened at the end of Killzone 3...
Legend made me remove this. Everybody riot.

No way. fudge shooters, GG have proved they make amazing open world third person games. If they don't go straight onto horizon 2 I'd be sad but I'd hope it's a similar game

How would Horizon 2 work? So much of the joy of this game is discovering how the world works and what happened in the past. Sequel can't have that again.

Melee combat like I said. Other ideas I have but are a bit spoilery.

Spoiler for Hidden:
Big boss fights. If there&#39;s a machine like the de-activated metal devil which you have a boss fight with in horizon 2, that would be the biggest <img src="https://vizioneck.com/forum/Smileys/alienine/shocked.png" alt="&#58;o" title="Shocked" class="smiley"> &nbsp;moment of horizon yet.<br><br>Other new epic machines<br><br>There&#39;s an after credits scene which sets up a sequel, slightly.

I do agree though. The best part for me was just that - discovering the history of the world, and that's definitely not something which will be repeated in a sequel. There's so much potential but a sequel could quite easily not be as good as this game :-[

What are people's favourite machines? I have a favourite but its not one which they showed in any media so I'm going to spoiler tag it:

Spoiler for Hidden:
Rockbreaker. Its just so dang fudgy cool and amazing to fight. Its the machine which gave me a massive (amazing) surprise when I first encountered it and it was also the hardest machine to fight first time as well.<br><br>I love that if you (spoiler for fighting it strategy)<br><div style="margin:20px; margin-top:5px"><div class="smallfont" style="margin-bottom:2px"><b>Spoiler</b> for <i>Hidden</i>: <input type="button" value="Show" style="width:60px;font-size:10px;margin:0px;padding:0px;" onClick="if (this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display != '') { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = ''; this.value = 'Hide'; } else { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = 'none'; this.value = 'Show'; }"></div><div class="alt2" style="margin: 0px; padding: 6px; border: 1px inset;"><div style="display: none;">knock off the components on its arms and legs it can&#39;t dig underground anymore and the fight changes completely. Its just amazing. </div></div></div><span style="font-size: 1em;" class="bbc_size">Might be my favourite video game enemy ever actually.</span><br><br><span style="font-size: 1em;" class="bbc_size">Stormbird is a very close second, I just don&#39;t think its quite as cool <img src="https://vizioneck.com/forum/Smileys/alienine/cheesy.png" alt="&#58;D" title="Cheesy" class="smiley"> </span><br>

Wow, there's a decent difficulty spike after leaving the Nora land, one of the first things I found was one of the big birds, shame was tough.

I still haven't reached Meridian, after playing another couple hours, but the game tells me I have 34% completion. I really need to get back to the story, lol.

Btw. the main thing I'd like to see improved in a sequel are the RPG systems. Leveling up is kinda unsatisfying and the skill tree is a little too straight forward for me as well.

Quote from: Kerotan on Mar 05, 2017, 07:03 AMNot making a new killzone was the best idea ever.  the team would have been sick of making the same game over and over.

This has given them a new lease of life.  Maybe develope another killzone now and possibly make it semi open world?  And their next game after can be Horizon 2 to launch on the ps5. That would be an awesome exclusive to push the ps5 and it would have mega hype after the reception Horizon is getting!
In theory, Guerrilla rotating between Killzone and Horizon would be a good idea. However, it only works effectively if both IPs are really good, like Uncharted and The Last of Us from Naughty Dog. Killzone is not at that level.

Maybe they can take what they learned from Horizon and make Killzone that level?

Did you play and beat Shadow Fall? Because if you're referring to what I think you're referring to, that question was answered at the end of Shadow Fall.

well im like level 27 now lol ive done a little bit more story but also alot of exploring.  got myself purple armor and both my bows are purple lol  got into carja territory last night and decided to head to the far left n grab thar tall neck.  i then decided to do the zeta cauldron not to far away..

Spoiler for Hidden:
then found myself fighting a thunderjaw. &nbsp;blasted off its weapons, tied that iced down and killed him with his guna lol

i think if i had 1 complaint,  it would be how close the camera is to her. makes it hard to see sometimes.

also the golden fast travel is way to cheap.. for what it is it should be more expensive and harder to obtain.  the first time i saw it in a shop. i already have far and anove what i needed for it lol

Three things hurt Killzone: Shadow Fall. Bad writing, rushed campaign design (launch title), and subpar multiplayer by current standards. Guerrilla has now seen first hand just how important a good writer is for the story. Not that they didn't know that before, but rather, that they have seen the difference between the kind of people they had writing for them before Horizon and now after. They also have more than enough examples of successful multiplayer formulas to pick and choose from. Giving something your own design is nice, but not when it clearly sacrifices fun to be different and Shadow Fall's felt like a watered down version of the multiplayer from its previous two games. Shadow Fall's campaign lacked a lot of the neat gameplay moments found in Killzone 2 and Killzone 3. Not the least of which was a significant lack of vehicle segments and "check out this awesome gun" moments. I actually would have a lot of faith in Guerrilla to make another Killzone and have it be awesome this time. I just don't think they're going to, though. Horizon is now their new baby and they seem like they're really thrilled about it.

Spoilers for a side mission you can get from the Ruins in the beginning area.

Spoiler for Hidden:
Has anyone done the side mission Ancient Armory yet? You have to get 2 power cells. You can get 1 power cell in the ruins from the beginning of the game, but I have no idea where the second one is.
