I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm considering buying it now :D

Sounds like it's a solid Souls clone with a bit more depth but not quite with the same level of polish. This year is starting off surprisingly well. Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Resident Evil 7, and now it looks like Nioh. All really good, if not great, titles.

Yeah there's been a crazy amount of Japanese games released so far this year. I saw on metacritic that ps4 has 15 games with scores so far in 2017 to xb1's 3, most of that gap is Japanese games

Yeah I'm surprised it's reviewing this well.  Will consider a buy when it's cheaper.  Horizon and Mass effect will have my life for months.

9.6 from IGN. Meta might honestly still go up.

It's up to 88 on Opencritic.

88 on Meta now.

Edit: It fell back to 87

This is scoring really well. Scores will certainly help it's sales. For some reason the game just doesn't really interests me. But I might try out it's demo later on and check it out

If you like Onimusha and/or Dark Souls, this game is for you.

Never played either. I'm not into Japanese games to be honest, rarely do they interest me and they have to have a lot of western influence in them
