Is this and spiderman a sign of good movie characters games?
Are the Avengers going to show up in kh3?

Square Enix teams up with Marvel for The Avengers project - Polygon

I hope this is amazing.

Is marvel wanting to basically create a connected universe with games too?  Or are they mostly just gonna be standalone.  Because it's gonna be weird having spiderman being ps4 exclusive and then having other games be multiplatform.

Well I assume spiderman game is a product of the movie franchise deal between Sony and Marvel. Squares deal is multiple games so I'd assume there'd be cross overs and world building. The trailer says Crystal Dynamics and Edios too so I wonder if they have two dedicated teams for yearly franchise. One thing is obvious, it's better than the tr deal

Who's glasses are at the beginning? Hawkeye?

Ah, yeah that makes sense.   Nothing can be worse than the TR deal. lol

Guess now the rumor of Eidos Montreal working on the next tomb raider makes sense now.  Since CD is now doing this.  Hopefully CD makes this great and Eidos Montreal makes TR tons better, especially in the story.

Eidos Montreal is working on this too, apparently. Maybe a GoW situation happened here with square shelving tomb raider in favor of this.

Hopefully it's good but I don't like how film games are starting to be made by major studios.

I think as long as they can do these type of games, but also put out original content it will be fine.  If CD and Eidos Montreal go just to these type of games that will be disappointing.

Games are better than movies at being games. With very few exceptions the closer a game is to the film source, the worse it is.

Also most of us want new IPs. This is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. The Avengers IP is already everywhere.

Somewhat agreed. I enjoyed the first Iron Man but it's all kinda averaged out since then.

I completely agree with the first sentence, but somewhat disagree with the second.  A lot of movie-games suck for a number of reasons.  Largely because they try a short development cycle to release at the same time as the movie.

A high budget superhero game hasn't really been touched in an appropriate way (aside from inFamous and Prototype), this could be a huge boon.

Agreed, but maybe it'll sell to a different audience than most games currently do.

I think calling it a movie game is kind of wrong and I'd consider it a new IP.  It's like Battlefront and Forced Unleashed.

Raven

Here I was all excited about what they might announce. Profound sadness.

Dr. Pezus

Edited the title to plural. Seems like it's a multi game project

but here is the thing, imo.

why does infamous second son have the specific super powers it has?  do you think the insomniac came up with an idea that felt cool and then found a way to make the gameplay work?  or do you think they found some good gameplay and then found a way to dress it up to make it feel cool.

i think that is part of the problem with superhero games is the IP is soo established you have to force the gameplay to fit the universe instead of creating a universe to fit the gameplay.  it's why i'm a bit scared of the spiderman game,.. no previous game has been able to recreate the feeling of fighting like spiderman because he is soo scrappy in his fighting style.  i saw that scrappy style in the trailer but i also so animations that were a bit stiff/delayed in places.  i'm worried that game is going to feel like a series of quicktime events.

and added suck about previous movie games is they also tried to adapt the story into gameplay to match the movie.  at least here we have super hero games being created without a movie so the developers will have more leeway to decided what kind of set pieces and story work within their game.  that should make these set of games better than previous ones.

@bold - the batman games were what i'd consider high budget.
