The oculus tool doesn't actually test your CPU's performance. It's inaccurate. If you get 10k on 3dmark you're probably fine.

You should get much better than that.

Maybe because I'm using the free version, and it doesn't do the test for SLI?

What did you get again? Like 10?

So if I went with an i7 I should get around this mark.

It seems cpu is a big deal in these test.

I get like 9k.
It must be testing sli, otherwise there wouldn't be a big difference.  Maybe it's a cpu thing.

I've been looking and it seems DDR4 only makes a difference in rendering and really not important to games. Skylake in general really doesn't seem help in games. The added cost of going skylake doesn't seem to be worth the squeeze. Any opinions on the matter?

FML. I'm still spinning my wheels not know what I really want to do. I promised my wife I'd try to do this without spending any money out of or account So that means selling stuff. At this rate I'd need to sell the Wii U and Xbox one in order to achieve that goal, or just go with Haswell over skylake, as I wouldn't need new ram. And of course I can drop the cooler saving even more.

Just wait to see if you need an upgrade first.
