I know Pi... But I did manage to pick on of these up for 25 bucks. So that saved a good chunk of change.  I might start install it tonight.

So I just got done installing my cooler and it broke everything. Video Drivers, screen set up, my mouse wouldn't work,  my keyboard would work. Gotta love pcs.

So far nothing too bad.
But I do like Windows 10.

On a different note, I do wonder how many people sell stuff on steam.  You can sell like trading cards from your inventory on steam, and gets some money.  Buy games with that money.  I apparently just sold something to someone named "Adolf Hitler", and "Scooby Doo".  I am really surprised that the first name is really allowed.
I've made $0.21 in the past 20 min., by selling virtual stuff.  Not a lot, but I made it by selling basically nothing.

Apparently every game on the Oculus store will be playable with their recommended settings.  As in every single one.  Which is nice.
But, games sold outside of the store can take different requirements.
Elite Dangerous apparently has minimum a GTX 980.  Tacos will probably be the only one to hit that.

That's kinda nuts.

Where did you see 980 as a requirement for elite vr?

VR minimum specification for Elite Dangerous

QuoteGreetings Commanders,

Many of you have been asking about the minimum system requirements for VR in Elite Dangerous, including Horizons, so here they are:

• OS: Windows 7/8/10 64 bit
• Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K Quad Core CPU or better / AMD FX 4350 Quad Core CPU or better
• Memory: 16 GB RAM
• Graphics: Nvidia GTX 980 with 4GB or better
• Network: Broadband Internet Connection
• Hard Drive: 8 GB available space

We are passionate about VR and Elite Dangerous is leading the way in cutting edge VR software development. This is what we consider to be a minimum spec to have a good experience on forthcoming consumer VR headsets.

As most of you are aware we currently support HTC Vive and the Oculus rift 0.5 SDK. We continue to work with Oculus on support for their more recent SDKs, and will let you know if and when there is more to announce.

You're fine on that too, it looks like.
Elite supports SLI.

It does, but a 980 is a bit steep. I wonder if that's to run it on ultra at 120fps.

well the cooler seems to do its job, my cpu temps are under 20c

Got everything fixed up?

I got the corsair liquid cooler installed and the issues I was having after are fixed.

It looks nice but I can't figure out how to change the color to match the cards.

I got the color to change. I just wasn't looking hard enough. Now the LED matches the LED on the 970's

I hate trying to take photos to show off leds. They always looks like shame in the photo.

Also, I've been reading what I can find on AMD new Zen cpu, and it's not going to be worth it. You'll be forced to update you MB as they've changed their socket. IF you going to go that far you might as well just jump over to Intel.

Quote from: Mmm_fish_tacos on Jan 16, 2016, 08:36 PMI've been looking and it seems DDR4 only makes a difference in rendering and really not important to games. Skylake in general really doesn't seem help in games. The added cost of going skylake doesn't seem to be worth the squeeze. Any opinions on the matter?
Tamron in the welcome thread was mentioning skylake is bad.  My personal thoughts?  Intel reached their limit.  I personally think Intel should scale back to 4 cores and try bringing each core clocked to 5ghz.

I think it's only a 6 or 8 percent gain over Haswell. I really don't see the point in them releasing something with such little improvement.

It might make sense if you need a computer anyway to start with skylake but if you on Haswell the gain isn't worth the expense.

I think part of the problem is they lack completion and it doesn't look to be getting any better on that front.

A buy out by MS would be the best thing that could happen to AMD and the industry.

You're right.  But like I said, Intel reached their limit.  This happened before in the ghz race.  AMD's Athlon at 2ghz was outperforming Intel's 4ghz processors.  Intel is reaching their limit of what they can do with a die shrink.  Let's hope Zen can catch up and price intel back into competition.
