Thats counting the bios, the SSD wont change that. That takes most of the time. Not sure if there's a way to shorten that in the bios set up.

Yeah it seems I will have reformat. It's counting that as a different computer and that's why I can't run anything off that drive currently.

Makes sense. Program installations usually can't be copied from one computer to another, so I guess that's the root of the problem.

Okay, So i'm trying to load a steam game it it keeps giving me "Failed to add new Steam library folder"

20 is fine for a cold boot.

I have my windows set to skip login, and it took about 20s from clicking the button to being back in chrome.

How fast does yours manage it?

Got it!

I guess in disk management it wouldn't really erase the drive, So it still had my old install of windows. So I cleaned it using the command prompt and it allowed me to set the drive correctly.

Next time I build a PC i'll just start with an SSD. Too much work for this upgrade.

He is talking about until the log-in screen though.
He should try and cut the BIOS time somehow. Should only need a few seconds to go to login with a fresh install like that.

So I disabled password and login. IT's 20 seconds from cold to desktop.

And skipped the bios logo, didn't change much.

Plus I hardly ever turn my computer off. I'm always in hibernate.

I'd like to know the Doctor's cold boot time if he thinks 20 seconds is bad. I mean that's faster than any console or phone for sure.

Mine is slower now because I've bloated my system with a lot of stuff. When it was a fresh install it took about the same time to go to desktop but maybe 15s to go to login

You need to work on cleaning that up!

I think with steam installs, you can move all the files over and then you have to revalidate everything installed.

Maybe.  , but I already deleted it all. I would have had to move everything over then clean the drive and move everything I didn't want on the ssd back to the other drive. Too much work.

Fixed their WiFi, now I get WiFi at "home"!

Edit:
For some reason their WiFi extender fell asleep or something.  Stopped giving off WiFi until I hit a button.
